Recommend a Watch.
I'm a Casio G-Shock guy, way less expensive than most of your choices, **** tough, I mean crazy tough like shoot the thing off your wrist tough like one said earlier, more accurate than most. I got mine for $55.00 on amazon.com and have never been disappointed. While others are really stunning, I am a man of lesser means, so money has to be spent differently. I know for a fact that the return on the Rolex's are great, but you have to have it to get it back. Not only that, but have you ever seen a hold up on t.v. ? The first thing they take is the guys watch. :eek:
learning it the hard way... :rolleyes:

I own a very nice Omega Seamaster 225450 auto, but I generally wear an atomic solar Casio G-Shock GW-M5600. The G-Shock has certain advantages over the Seamaster:
It shows the correct time.
Is lighter and more comfortable.
I find the alarms and countdown timer useful.
The day of the week is displayed (I work shifts and often need reminding what day of the week it is!)
I don't worry too much about losing it if I have to take it off before going into a fire.
I still love my Seamaster though. It looks great, I like the "little machine" factor of the movement - and my wife bought it for me :D

Well, Suunto bit the bullet so, I read this whole thread. Wound up ordering one of these:spyderskin wrote:I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but IMO, G-SHOCK is the best hard use watch on the market for the money...and they have nice casual, dressy models as well that are still tough
Amazon has them on sale for like $58 with free shipping. While the idea of a really "nice" watch appeals, I think something like this is more in my needs/affordability zone....
And I couldn't believe the technology, solar powered? radio time set? auto on night illumination? For $60?? Are you kidding me??? And it's a G-Shock so it "should" last a while even on MY wrist.
Anyway, thanks for all the great recommendations here! This thread is a great read and covers watches at every level. Nicely done, folks!

I'm a pure functionality guy myself, I have three main watches I rotate through randomly
My Luminox 3000 series blue face quartz analog;
My Casio G-Shock;
and my Seiko Orange Monster;
the OM's luminescent paint is incredibly bright for the first minute or so, especially when exposed to a 1 watt UV LED
but then it settles down to a more steady baseline glow;

I can only wear Titanium watches. I don't like spending a bundle on watches so it makes it hard. I had a titanium Fossil Speedway until the band broke a few months back. So I went on a search. I finally bought a Swiss Army Basecamp off Ebay for $129, all titanium. It's not a huge bulky watch which I like, very classy, nice with a suit or t-shirt. Might be worth looking into..
