New knife! (With pics)

#1

Post by LeeCQC »

So, I was on vacation in Pigeon Forge, TN. this past week and I decided to stop into to Smoky Mountain Knife Works and peek around. I went up to the Spyderco counter, and something inside just spoke to me. I bought a Para-Military, and I must say, it's one **** of a good knife. Here are a couple crappy pics that I took when I got home (As a bonus, the Victorinox Farmer I also bought :cool :)

Just the newer models, I think. They had a nice selection, though.

That's how I got my first Para. I stopped in at Ruff's Saddle Shop outside Umatilla, FL looking for a ZDP189 D4. I saw the Para and wanted to check out the compression lock so I asked if I could handle it. Three Paras later... :D

It is my favorite Spyderco of all the ones I've seen and handled. It reminds me so much of the old Buck 112s that I grew up carrying. Perfect size for easy carry and still big and tough enough to do anything I'm likely to need to do. And absolutley nothing sharpens up as well for me as a flat ground Spyderco S30V blade. I can beat 'em all to **** and in 5 minutes on the Sharpmaker they're splitting atoms again.

Congrats... that was a good choice. What's next?
Regards,
Dale

Yes, 2 very fine knives - good for you! Thanks for the pics, LeeCQC. Also, you're right about the size and toughness of the Para, dalefuller - and it's a LOT lighter than the Buck 112.

- best wishes, Jazz.
