The Probe or the mini,
I'm wondering what is the purpose of the extra holes on the blade
they definitely do not look like they are their just for looks...

You mean the hole in the spine with a slit leading into it? That's a wire cutter. If you mean the small projection on the handle that extends forward above the thumb ramp on the right, that's for hooking to a surgical tubing sling/lanyard.
