Many pardons. I was being a bit of an A$$.

I am editing this as hopefully an apology for making myself appear a jerk, I did not intend to do so.

My initial post was a little harsh. There is no notch on the blade. Not sure by what you mean when you say a second. They acted like a black clip was available and never actually said there is not one. I did not think it would be a big deal to have TWO screws replaced. There was a lot of blade play in the meerkat and when I showed it to a dealer he reccomended that I send it in.

Over two months ago I sent in a Walker Jr. for sharpening and check for $5. Nothing yet. Recently ordered a sharpmaker to avoid this in the future. Hopefully sales volume is/will be up and Spy can hire more personnel/expand/diversify etc. Sal is overwhelmed and probably deserves a raise.

Not sure if this is taking the thread in a different direction, but I would like to know if a new Spydie I received is a second. I've never heard of this "notch", so I attached a couple of pictures. Sorry for the fuziness, hard to keep my hands still enough to get the closeup.

The odd thing is I was happy to get this knife as it is the first one for me to have a serial number. Now I'm a bit bummed.

That may or may not be what he was talking about. I think a notch like that is fairly common in knife design. I know there is that one a SAK I have.

That's kind of what I thought, marauder. It just seems strange that the notch is only on one side.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Thank you for the explanation. It is most definitely not a second.

Thanks Ryan. Now I can enjoy it without those crazy doubts running through my head.

It's a Vesuvius, by the way. My first look at the compression lock. Pretty sweet.

I talked to mike. It was just us misunderstanding each other. I hope nobody thought I was talking sh!t about him. Once again I apologize for that. He misunderstood what I had wanted done to my cricket and Spyderco is sending me a new meerkat. I had thought it was going to be together and I was a little worried when I only received on knife that was apparently in the same condition in which I sent it. They are sending me a new meerkat and the parts that I requested and $5. Sorry Mike.
