How do you guys and gals protect your knives that you store away in your vault, safe, etc?

What do you wipe it down with, etc.??

Do you use one of those silica canisters, that take the moisture out of the air in your knife/gun safe??

I wanna make sure I do this right, as some of my spydies represent a substantial investment...

:-)

Thanks. Any advice you could give is really appreciated!

All I do is wipe the blades clean with a piece of chamois leather to get rid of any finger marks etc. My knives are stored in "Sack-Ups" knife rolls. These are made from knitted cotton with a silicone treatment (I think) and fit 3", 4" and 5" knives. Just be sure to get the one for 9 knives as the pockets are large enough for Spydies and other "tactical" folders, the pockets on the others are designed for traditional folders.

I use Tuf-Cloth, perhaps a bit of oil applied to the mechanisms.

Dude ~

I clean 'em with tuff cloth, protect 'em with tuff glide. Since the Spydies are hardy, they hardly corrode after being treated by my tender-lovin' care.. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

As far as I can tell Spydies don't need much protecting. But I still wipe them down with a silacone gun and reel cloth.

My EDC is a lightweight, plain-edge ATS-55 Endura. I sometimes wipe it with my t-shirt. If I've been cutting something sticky like fruit or packing tape, I'll run some water over it first and maybe use a little soap. Other than that, nothing. I refuse to baby a working knife. And I think the Endura appreciates that (not that I, uhh, hear it talking to me or anything! ;-)
