Knives in Travell, South America

#1

Post by Wraithe9113 »

Hello,

I will be travelling South South America. I usually carry my D4 (RF) and Tasman as a money clip. M wife carries her Spin. when it comes to airline travel I always send them either within the linning or within socks deep in my checked baggage.

I will be hitting Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile and then Costa Rica in Central America. Most of this will be done by bus (not the Argentina-Costa Rica link).

Question: Does anyone know the knife policies in any of those countries? I have been in Ecuador the last few months, where I grew up, and god knows what the official policy is, but no one really checks for knives or cares about folding knives. Security basically checks only for guns. I was wondering if the countries I will be visiting are similar.

Cheers :spyder: :D

not sure about the knife laws in south-america but i reckon a ukpk will probably be alright, and it's a really good knife.
if you get a orange one it'll be less "scary" to jo bloggs general public aswell

Policies? I spent 6 months in Peru and Bolivia and you can travel with a machete if you want to. It is still the real world down there, at least it was in '02 when I went (and the places I went). I took a L'il Temp Rhino Point from the US.
