Caly3 wire clip, leather fob
Have the Caly3 in G10 and VG10 blade, quite nice as most of you already know.
I was looking at some leather last night to make a fob for a fellow but didn't
have as dark a skin as needed to go with his sheath, but, I cut out a piece
for my Caly3 and find that it works pretty well to help pull the knife out of
the pocket, thought you guys/gals might want to give it a go too, just
a simple piece with a small wood bead to catch at the end;

its really cool, what these fobs can do for that extra finish on a knife, specialy if the knife has no pocketclip,so a little weaving can be in order.
If you know the ropework that a sailor or yachtsman is supposed to know, you can come up with some realy eyecatching, artistic weaved fobs.
Nice job on Caly3.

Thanks all and Agent, it's a slip of leather passed through the beadAgent Starling wrote:Hey Gary, I really like that fob!...is that just cut from a piece of leather, is it a shoelace, or what? For someone like me who is far too impatient to sit and weave a lanyard this looks like the way to go! :)

and then just tied into a knot, very quick and easy, a leather shoe
lace would also do the trick as well. It's good to have the bead
there to provide something to catch as you grab.

edited to add, camera is my Canon G7 shot in macro mode Aperture priority
with the 2 second timer on to prevent camera shake
had a slice of foam cut at an angle to set the knife up from the table slightly
and a piece of white paper reflecting light back onto the knife/blade for fill in light.

Most welcome, the lighting was from our kitchen light which is a wagon
wheel with 8 small lights that have frosted lamp shades like candle
chimneys over them so I get a lot of indirect light from that off of the
white ceiling, not a lot, so the exposures are usually longish.
The trick that is a good one to use for a lot of shots is that self timer
on the G7 you have the built in settings of 2 seconds, 10 seconds and
a Customized one that I sometimes use, that I set for 1 second it helps
prevent moving the camera as you press the shutter, mostly for still shots
of course but handy to get them to come out sharper, allowing you that
little bit of time to brace yourself and the camera.

This week i had this little gem in the mail:
I must say i am very impressed with it's fit & finish. I also could not detect any room between the tang/pivot and liners? Are these made without washers i wonder???
Solid lockup no play watsoever. Very nice. Bangin'myself on the head for waiting so long to get one; FOXQUADS you definately need at least one of those! :D
Mine is HG dated; so if i'm correct august 2007.
