the man who re-invented magnum knives...

#1

Post by AllenETreat »

This one's for daywalker ( Chad Los Banos ). ITAO, magnum
( a division of Boker ) was on the top of "junk" knives at one
time. Now that they "saw the light" and took on Chad's radical
"sub" designs as well as his other's, the Boker plus line
( is there anything today without a "plus"? ) is leading
the forefront of Boker's cutlery line.

Personally, I hope Boker's taking good care ( $$$ wise ) of Chad
and his family, they've got themselves a multi-million dollar designer
in him. More than an asset to any knife forum, he's an asset to the
cutlery community as well.

O.K. Boker, it's your turn!

Anyone else feel like I do?

Hey AET, I couldn't agree with you more!!! Our Knifebro DAYWALKER is such a modest guy. All he would say is he put the idea out there and they ran with it. Truth Be Told......Chad Is A Super Intelligent and Determined Gentleman!!! He never for a second gave up on his ideas or DREAMS!!! He also gives credit where credit is due ;) . He was determined to make an impact in the Cutlery World........He Did Just That In A Very Big Way. Now we see CLB everywhere. It's undeniable what he's created not only for Boker but for us as well. I hope he is Reaping The Benefits of his creations. If I know Chad, it's about Newer and Better Things.......He Just Loves To Create and Never Ever Gives Up. Take Good Care and Be Safe Always. COOL Thread BTW  :D .

God Bless :)

I sure do bro. In fact I'm slated to buy my first Boker ever here soon. I plan on buying a Subcom because I don't have one yet. I plan on buying the first model offered. The plain edge black FRN handled Subcom. I saw one for the first time a couple months back when I traveled to Columbus for a class with Michael Janich. It was smaller than I thought but way cool.

I also hope that they are taking good care of him ($$$ wise).

Boker wasn't really even "on the map" with one handed opening/closing knives until Chad's designs showed up.

I'll admit that the first time i saw images of the Subcomfolder and Trance I wasn't "blown away".....however, after I got to hold them / use them the genius of CLB was evident......and Bokerplus is selling them at a price most folks can afford.
Maybe be analogy can be drawn b/w Chad's designs and Spyderco... where most models have to be held/used to be truly appreciated.... ;) I don't have access to a convenient retail knife store where I can fondle Clipits..... Many models from Spyderco that I initially "wrote off" by there appearances were fully appreciated when I finally had them in my hands... :)
Hats off to Chad, and Boker ... I hope to see many more "fresh" designs in 2008

I think Chad's knives are great. I have most of them. What is not to like? Simple, yet very functional.

:spyder: My good friend and MBC training partner as well as spyderco forum lurker (he reads every thread) Lur Kingman (get it?) just gave me my first biscuit, a subclaw. These lil wonders are ergonomic delights! Now I have a pocket knife I'll actually use at work withought needing to get my keychain ladybug (I never use my front pocket protection knives, those are for bad guys only! ;) ) This Lil' wonder eats cardboard! Kudos Chad! :) :spyder:

No Boker Lefty Models

#10

Post by Manix Guy 2 »

My only problem with Boker is that never will consider a lefty in his great designs and being made overseas it should not be a cost factor . Good thing the Lava is out there and shame on Boker. Regards MG2

It is impressive how quickly Chad's designs have taken hold of the entire product line. The SubCom was chosen to be the knife in TAD Gear's mini survival kit. http://www.tadgear.com/x-treme%20gear/t ... ni_kit.htm
Cool stuff.
Ask me where I got my awesome SUPERHAWK!

Hi Allen, I hear you and I fully aggree! Chad did a great thing designing these little critters. Böker was clever enough to bring them to the market.
I did the Lausanne Show in Switzeland earlier this month and the Böker boys were just selling their pants off with Chad's Böker Plus designs. Best thing ever is that the subcom series is about the only, more or less MBC/Tacticle folder legal in Switzerland. Limits for locking one-hand openers is 5cm blade length and 12 cm overall length. These wonderful little knives pass with flying colors.
CLB designs ROCK BIG TIME.... yes, I am shouting!
Cheers Allen and keep 'em coming Chad!
Jurphaas :)

Have to completely agree the the CLB Designs knives put Boker on the map for me. Would love to see Boker do some (specials, maybe) in higher grade steel, though.

Keep 'em comin' Chad!

I'm amazed that Chad has been able to pack so many desirable features into knives so small.

I think my favorite thus far has been the Trance. Excellent knife! I love all of the framelocks, it really adds a Plus (no pun intended) to the overall knife package.

I'm glad our friend, Chad, is enjoying success, he deserves it!

I've been "framed"...

Post by AllenETreat »

One thing that's amazing is not only putting everything into a small package,
but making the framelock affordable. The lowest price I've seen ( from a
quality standpoint anyway ) in a framelock is the newer cricket. Other than
that you go straight to the Sebenza-lock. At less than $30 from -

...you get quality ! Mine's been my EDC these past few days!

Yes, i agree, Chad is the reason that Boker plus is climbing up the ladder. At least that's how i see it. He is one true design genius. I think Boker knows that. At least i hope they do.

This was my experience as well...the DAYWALKER knives are all *so* well engineered, very impressive...he so deserves all his success and accolades! :D
