Which Native should I keep

#1

Post by gandalfe »

I just recieved 2 Spyderco Natives in the mail. One is a Stainless CE from Seki city, and the other is an original Native from Golden Colorado.I was planning to keep one and give the other to a friend for Xmas. The only other Spyderco I own is a Chinook. It is the original heavy version.Which one of the Natives would you keep and which one to give?I'll tally the votes and keep the winner. :spyder: Thanks Image

unless you have a special engraving in mind, I'd keep the FRN handle one especially if you plan to be using it on a daily basis. And also the other one makes a better gift cause it looks nice. :)

I agree with dete; keep the Golden-made Native. Keep in mind though, that the SS Native has been discontinued.

Get the SS one engraved. I have had a few Spydies engraved and they present well as gifts, if you want pics, see my picture thread or ask and I shall post it for you. The SS Spydies take to engraving like no other production knives I have seen.

Keep the FRN one as a user :)

I agree that keeping the FRN native is the best option. That version carries well, is light, and the handle can take alot of day to day abuse and just keep going.
Also it's the true "Native" since the major components are USA made :)

Another vote for keeping the FRN version, right here.

If it's going to be a user...... FRN wins by miles.

I collect Natives....therefore I would keep both of them.

If you ever plan to have a Native in SS, I'd advise keeping this one, as the FRN Natives are much easier (and less expensive) to replace.

:spyder: :spyder:  :spyder: :spyder: Oh **** I would be caught between the "swet'n the $I-I!t" being in your position, but...I would say if the ss was not in the disco cadigory, I would go with the Golden Spyder, but since it is, I don't know which I would choose. I do agree that the ss makes a great gift. Hope this helps :)

Agree 100%.

Keep the S30V FRN model.

Give the SS model.

I'd keep the SS Native and give the FRN.

The SS is being disco'd; so it would be hard to replace. And you will want one after you don't have it.

Give the FRN to your friend. It is a great user. He will enjoy it.

And, then, get an FRN for yourself!

I agree with EarthDog. It's not quite in the "Sophie's Choice" category of dilemmas, but you can always fetch yourself another FRN at WalMart. It's a great EDC.

I would keep the FRN Native & edc it & gift the SS Native :D the giving part of it will give you the good feeling money cant buy & then find another SS Native for yourself if you still want one it will give you something fun to do searching for that next knife is alot of fun :spyder:

Its a win ~ win situation :)
