My stand in Gentleman's knife
My stand in Gentleman's knife
Well yesterday was my parents 25th wedding anniversary & after I got dressed in a suit and tie I realized I had no clue what knife I should carry. Most of my knives are big knives and really did not fit the overall look i was going for. So i had to use a knife that I just bought on a whim, because it was being discontinued. The Kris truly is my most beautiful knife. Even though I did not care much about this knife in the beginning the Kris will always stay in the family, because it was carried on such a special event in my life. Plus at the end of the night I got to use it to cut down all the balloons for my little cousins :D .
I know everyone regards the Kopa as the best gentleman's' knife by Spyderco, but for me it is the kris.
If you haven't gotten one get one now you wont be disappointed.

P.s Each celebration has become more memorable, because i carried a Spyderco with me and these knives will stay with me forever & remind me of those Good days.

It's always fun to have a special Spydie there for those special occasions in life. I made a very deliberate choice to carry my Spyderco Mouse the evening that proposed to my fiance. That knife will always have special associations for me now.

yeah bro you are so right. With Spyderco it's so much more than just a simple knife. The CoPilot wrote:It's always fun to have a special Spydie there for those special occasions in life. AJ - I know exactly what you are saying. I havent carried my :spyder: 's on any special days yet, but my wife got me my native for our anniversary and although I may get "fancier" or more deluxe :spyder: 's I think it will always be my favorite. The Kris is really sweet, not sure I would ever own one but they look so well designed/manufactured.

I got myself a Volpe for dressy occasions. I also have a Caly Jr spirit run as a dress knife.
I too realized that most of my knives realy were more 'tactical' than classy, though if the police were legal here, that would certainly be a nice knife to carry. IMO, the stainless handled knives are quite classy enough for most situations.
I need to handle the kris to see if i'd like it at all....i keep hearing how nice it is, but i consider it too much of a weapon (probably based on books I read ages ago about krisses (sp?)...

I have to agree with Blackhair. The CalyIII CF ZDP has to be the best gentleman's folder. It is the perfect EDC in my opinion, it just has perfect ergos and great looks and can slice through anything without freaking anyone out. :)

Nope!!!
Only the Viele 2nd gen and Viele 2 qualify as the best Gentleman's knife, smooth opening, very smooth closing. Sure wish the Volpe was as easy to close - maybe time to take apart and Dremel a larger opening in the handle.
