Propper Storage
Propper Storage
I recently purchased a Silicone Cloth at the local gun store to polish and protect my collection. It has been, so far, the easiest method I have found to clean and lubricate my knives. However, I am concerned about the effect the Silicone may have on any of the handle materials (Carbon Fiber, FRN, G-10, Micarta, SS, Stingray Skin). My technique is the hold the handle with one end of the cloth, wipe the blade, wipe the lock, close the blade, wipe the handle and finally store it in a "Sack Ups" roll case. Will the Silicone Cloth have any detrimental effect on the handles? I would appreciate any tips or tricks for storage :)

The plastic materials on you list should be unaffected by silicone. After 40 years of using such cloths on firearms, I'd venture to say they're safe to use on any wood finish I've encountered as well. Rayskin is the wildcard - have zero experience with it, and since it's a form of leather, I am less certain. Then again, there are silicone boot dressings sold specifically for use on leather goods, so I would think the only possible "detrimental" effects might be softening and darkening, which is not to say either will happen.
