Thanks Brian :)

Just realised the reflection of the sandstone wall edge on the blade in the first pic makes the millie look like it has a hollow grind partway up the blade.... obviously that isn't the case :p

The drangonflies have been buzzing around my place for weeks now. Camellias and a few other flowers all in bloom. Tried to get a shot with dragons, camellias and other flowering plants but nature conspired against me. So this one had to do.

Well there is no point in me photographing anything in my garden as its scrub and sand having let the rubbish lawn die in any case.............I can do a **** of a lot of good shots on tree stumps tho! :D

And I have more to change to stumps yet............

Outdoor shots are the bees knees and almost always surpass any indoor shot (bar Wouters but then again I think he's a Magician HA! ;) ) Mark is the master of the mirror..........the rest of us struggle to do our best and occasionally succeed.

Daniel,
Absolutely gorgeous knives and stunning pictures.
Tony,
great job, amazing choice of materials.
Guys,
for some reasons I thought that some woods are hard and dense enough that they do not need to be stabilized, and desert ironwood is one of them. Is it wrong?

the iron wood isnt, i think i might have told Dan otherwise or he might have got it wrong without my help..lol. the others are stabilized, i like working with them because i can buff the bolsters as well as the wood iin one shot. if the wood isnt it starts to take on the color of the rouge in the tiny crevices. it also could shrink/expand with different temps and humidity. Also some exotic woods are more brittle and will break/chip/crack easily, stabilized woods usually dont. lastly if it is stabilized you dont have to worry about any finish so that is why i try to use stabilized woods over non stabilized woods.

It was worth to be waiting for!!!
Stunning knives!
Tony's mods are just amazing!
And Dan, what took you so long to start using mirror? :p
Australian sky provides perfect background for your Kopas/Kiwi.
You even managed not to take a picture of yourself :D
Great, great job!
The Masur Birch Kopa is my favorite of the bunch.
What is yours?
Mark.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your kind words. The Australian sky is indeed very nice for mirror shots, sometimes very clear and blue and sometimes nice cloud formations. I didn't want to use the mirror because your mirror shots are legendary and I didn't want to intrude on that niche :p (but also it takes time to clean the mirror, bring it out and setup etc ;) )

Tony has done a fantastic job on these and I have a few more coming which will look also quite nice !

My favourite would also be the Masur Birch, but that figuring in the Desert Ironwood is quite superb too.

My conundrum at the moment is whether I should use Tony's knives or stick to my million other production Kopas ??? I am leaning toward using ALL of Tony's ones because they just look and feel awesome. I also have some unstabilised Australian hardwoods with Tony and we are trying to figure out which would be the best ones with which to rescale a Kopa.

I promise to finish my Kopa Wheel with the Production Kopas as well as a Kopa Wheel of Tonydahose modded Kopas. These duo of wheels should make for interesting comparison. I am betting Tony's compilation will look decidedly more colourful.

I hope Sal will take a look at this thread and maybe push out the 17th Kopa sleeper with one of these scales :p
Cheers

Beautiful pictures. Good to see you finding time to do knife photography.
Probably your son helps. :)
