Did I miss any models? Was the BY02 ever made? I do recall a larger version of the Harrier :confused:

I'll update it soon with specs and the size & real size parts, and a proper logo as soon as my EPS converter works normally...

Wow I was just thinking about how nice such a list would be. Thanks Ted. I finally found a Harrier, I know its not a spydie but it should be in the list of hard to finds.

The Harrier was the larger design of the first two. There will more than likely be a Harrier2. It's a ways down the road.

There was also a smaller version, the name escapes me right now (senior moments :rolleyes: ). I'll chase it down.

I can't say that I was totally pleased with the designs (both mine). They were a "dip your toe in the Chinese water". Both designs have been copied, so the Harrier2 will be a new design (same size).

Someone just asked me if it would be a good venture to collect byrds. We never thought about collecting Spyderco's, when we made our knives.

Even now Spyderco's and byrds are made to use. We make a few collector models (eg: kopa), but even there we use premium materials.

I don't know. Are byrds worth collecting?

We do appreciate your interest in maintaining history. We've not been really good about that. I think you and Deacon know more about Spyderco than I do.

Ted i copied the numbers of the german boker site i don't think they are the proper factory id numbers. I didn't find them on the spyderco online catalog.

Thanks Mat. BY18 is available, so that could work for the Cat Byrd.

Thanks Sal. For one thing, it's much more affordable to collect Byrd's. I'm not sure if they will appreciate much over time, more then other knives for example. But having a BY01 is like having a 1st gen. Worker. Piece of Spyderco/Byrd history I guess, and that gives value as well.

If you can dig up that name of the BY02 I would appreciate it very much.

Great work you did there, thanks for it.
It was just a matter of time before this site had to appear, the Byrd line does already have quit some models/variations.
The Catbyrd and G10 flight are on my want to have list.

Great stuff Ted. The Byrd line is getting ever more mature and sophisticated. I'd say, better start documenting now before it gets too large! :)

BY02 was the Sparrowhawk.

We weren't pleased with them so we sold the ones that didn't lock defeat in our 2nd sale. The defeats were thrown away.

I'm trying to chase one of each down for you.
