I have been using spyderco enduras with fully serrated edges for fifteen years. I have been very happy with them, but once in awhile I like to try something different.
I bought a benchmade griptilian with a partially serrated edge in 154cm steel recently and the tips of the serrated eges blunted and chipped of just after four days on the job. The knife was extremely dull after two weeks.
I have never had a tip of a serrated edge break off or blunt on a spyderco. I also do not usually have to sharpen one of the enduras until about six months. I found the 154cm steel much more brittle than the VG-10 steel and much harder to sharpen.
Benchmade also will not sharpen their serrated edges. It is my opinion that if a knifemaker will not sharpen their serrated edges, then they should not put them on their blades.
As for cold steel, I bought a voyager with a fully serrated edge. I know, I hate their serrations too, but I wanted to try them. The edges sheared off also, but not near as readily as the benchmade product. I could also sharpen their VG-1 steel quickly, except for the serrations, which I have a sharpener made just for their type of serrations.
I guess spyderco is the only manufacturer out there that makes good quality serrated knives.
spyderco vs. benchmade vs. cold steel

Spyderco r0xx0rz, no doubt about that. Those other companies make great knives, too, though. If they're not for you, that's cool as there are way too many must-have Spyderco and must-have Kershaw knives to get these days (either company can bankrupt you if you only just let them :D ).

I prefer Spyderco out of those 3 choices. Not really any Benchmade folders that excite me at the moment. Only Benchmade I've thought of buying lately is the small Snody Fixed Blade Activator. Had a bad experience as a customer with old Steel so I no longer buy their product.

I've always preferred Spyderco myself. The only other company that's ever gotten attention from me has been Kershaw. I don't care much personally for Cold Steel and Benchmade just doesn't do it for me either. There's only been one BM design that I cared for and actually purchased, and that was a Rescue Hook.
