Whatever it is, it definitely looks like a SE that had the serrations ground off.

Given the closed length, steel, handle, and what appears to be remnants of a swedge grind, I'd bet on a badly abused SE G-10 Rookie.

4" closed length, ATS55, G10 looks like C05G Standard for me for me, but I can be wrong

Nope, note the straight section at the rear of the handle, the Standard has a shallow concave section at that point, like a Worker or Hunter would. Shape of the blade, even allowing for all the grinding, is more Rookie-like as well.

I will say a well used rookie as well
We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better.

Formerly SE G-10 Rookie. That sucker gave me the willies when I first saw it. It's sad what people do to knives.

The clip placement gave it away for me. Rookies are tip-up and g-10 standards are tip-down.

Much as I appreciate the compliment, I must point out that I make my fair share of mistakes. You need look no farther than the tread on jigged bone to prove that. :o But I would wager large sums of money that I'm right on this one, at least as far as it being a G10 Rookie. Blade has had so much metal removed it's hard to be 100% sure whether those little ripples are the remnants of serrations or just artifacts of poor sharpening technique with a belt grinder.

I must have gotten lucky Roman, or you got unlucky. Old and slow as I am, I hardly ever beat anyone. :D

I'm sorry Roman, my fault. I didn't check the time of your posting - now it's my turn :o

G-10 Rookie

I think Deacon is right. The handle configuration really gives it away.

That is almost criminal what this idiot did to this great knife :( It still blows me away when I go to gun shows and outdoor shows and you still see these old redneck "know it alls" who still use high speed grinders to sharpen knives. What's equally as disgusting is that there are usually dozens of people who actually do hire them to grind/sharpen their knife  .

Those little Rookies were close to being a totally perfect, all around pocket knife. It really baffles me to no end that they didn't sell well and didn't last long on the main line up. Maybe they were too perfect.
