I'm quite familiar with them. Australia's Customs (Prohibited Import) regulations specifically mention the Bown Knife Belt.

Even for high level government training, the federal government very seldom gives out import permits for them because of the serious potential for abuse; without a manual search where the belt is removed, these won't be detected.

I've seen one, ever, the single edge item; it would definitely "do the trick".

Never heard of them, but I'm pretty sure one of those would earn me a free car ride with red and blue lights.

Yep, most likely followed by a free stay at the Grey Bar Hotel. ;)

It seems to me as easy as they are to conceal they'd be a bit of a pain in the arse to pull out. Also, one thing that's always confounded me... where does the blade go? Seems to me that could possibly cause some problems.

Hi there
I own one of these and would have to put it in the 'last ditch weapon' category. The blade is small and really only useful as a stabbing implement. When assembled the blade fits into a sheath formed in the end of the belt and this allied with a slight curve in the blade keeps it out of the way.
IMHO the worst feature of this knife is that when in use there is nothing to hold you belt(and hence your pants) up.

I have owned one for years and they are okay.I have the double sided one and wish I had the regular, They do work fine and the built in thick leather sheath is well made and is one piece with the belt itself. Hardly use it but comes in handy when I forget to bring a folder.
