G-10 Cara Cara - smokin' deal.

I needed a fix so I ordered a Byrd G-10 Cara Cara, Crossbill, and Pelican. They arrived from grand prairie a few days ago.
The G-10 Cara is definitely the best of the bunch. Fitting is perfect, action is smooth after applying some TW25 synthetic white grease, proportions are hefty but I like that, blade is spyder-sharp, nice almost-endura size, and all screw construction - wohoo. The back spacer is steel and has some Faux file work that looks cool.
Crossbill - cool knife if you can't wait for the Superhawk like me, it is a very inexpensive way to tide yourself over :) Good grip, nice brushed stainless handle, smooth action but not as smooth as the G-10 Cara Cara, pinned construction. I need to get my sharpmaker out - it needs to be sharper, I need to work on my hawkbill sharpening abilities, and it also has a very very small bur on the tip. Oh yeah, makes your hand smell like metal when you hold it for a little bit - I don't like that, but my olfactory senses are acute.
Pelican - Construction is identical to the Crossbill, but this one has an unpolished spot on the blade where it rides against the spring and it stacks up a bit before it locks open. Releasing the lock takes a bit too much travel to release the blade for the same reason. Its a small issue and besides I like Wharnie blades.
I am very happy with the G-10 Cara Cara, although I thought it was the one I debated the most before buying because I didn't think I would like the blade profile or the Byrd hole, but this is the star of the lineup as far as I am concerned. I like real Spyders better, but these are a great bargain for the money. I can now give knives as presents without breaking the bank or resorting to some cheap pot metal from another maker.
