CRKT Hissatsu?

#1

Post by ghostrider »

Anyone have any experience with this knife. Most of the retailers say the steel is AUS-6, but CRKT lists it as 440A.

Any comments would be welcome.

It has a pretty solid following from what I have seen. Most folks seem to really like it. I have looked at them but not really my style.

I believe it has been AUS-6 in the past.
Retailers often don't update this info.

Hello ...I got one of these for $35 & $7 SH.There is one place online that has

them for $29. They are very much worth it for this price. The blade is very sharp

and very thick....Not Super quality Spyderco steel, but an excellent value at

such low prices....A quick search on google will find them at these prices...William

Hey there GR, I don't know how you feel about the Martialist, but he gives a lot of info in his reveiw: http://www.themartialist.com/pecom/hissatsu.htm

Seems like a carry only for defense piece...so super uber premium steel shouldn't really be necessary, assuming the steel can take a shock or two during "use". I've been thinking about getting one, but :spyder: seems to have cornered my knife buying budget until the end of the year.

I like the looks of this knife. Not into martial stuff, but the blade seems pretty useful for various cutting chores other than SD as well. The handles are a bit too bulky for my taste, but I could live with that. :o

I love the design, too bad CRKT didnt use at least AUS8 for this one.

Hello Jano,

I'm speculating that the blade steel could well be the reason for the price reduction. Clearing out the AUS-6 blades before getting the 440A ones in.

David, the questions remains, whats better for Hissatsu, AUS6 or 440A?

Aloha ghostrider,

I have one of these in AUS6, high mirror polish. I was very happy that CRKT made this available in a low cost production piece as it has been one of my favorite knives since I first saw it on the back cover of BLADE magazines "back in the day". :p

I simply bought this for the asthetics of the design, not a user.

Grab one of these no matter what it is made out of ghostrider...it's a nice piece!

Jano knows how much i luv this one. :D

God bless and keep me posted! :)

OK ... I admit it, I couldn't resist this one at the $29 plus shipping price. For the money, it's an incredible knife although, carrying it without drawing attention to one's self might be a bit of a challenge .. :D It's a big knife and is clearly a self defense piece. There would likely be no explaining your way out of why you had this blade with any LEO.. :D

I'm not sure about the answer to the blade steel question (not listed in the box or on the blade), but it is a nicely finished knife. Easily worth more than twice what I had to pay for it.

Hi gang! I have one that I picked up cheap from KF. Guy said it "wasn't him." Anyway, I wasn't to crazy about the handle, so I did a chop/cord wrap job....The pics were on my hard drive...Dang! were did they go.... :o I'll take some new ones when I get the time, but it sure is a wicked fighter for the money....As always, my two cents. :)
