Caly3

#1

Post by sal »

It seems that I'm not the only one that likes the Caly3. :)

May I point out that the original design was created by Britich forumites (UKPK) and the lockback version was prompted by forumites and knowledgable dealers wanting a locking version of the UKPK.

Another design created by the afi's. Thanx much for your sharing of what you'd like and we hope the end result works for all.

I would also like to add that the maker did an excellent job. It took longer than we'd hoped (it seems everything does  ), but all in all, we could not have hoped for a better quality product.

The Carbon Fiber ZDP version will be the same, except for materials.

We'll hide and watch to see if there is sufficient demand for an FRN version in the future.

Have to agree on both the excellence of the design and the quality of it's execution. Will look forward to the possible FRN version. :)

I have to say I would be ecstatic if an FRN version were to be made. I prefer FRN to G-10 as a handle material everytime.

I have not replaced my UKPK yet. I don't miss the lock often, the UKPK is made in Golden with S30V and it is significantly lighter.

Will the CF be linerless?

Hi Sal,
You can certainly count me as one of the ones that absolutely love the Caly3!! You hit the ball way out of the field on this oneIMHO. This knife is pretty much the perfect EDC knife for me. I love everything about it! This knife will be in my pocket for a very long time and I think it will be the first knife that I feel I may need 2 of!!

Thank you very much, Ron

God, I can wait for the CF Caly. Imagine you get your dream knife made and don't have to pay a custom price *BIG SMILE* :) .

I don't have one yet but plan on buying one in about 6 months. I have to wait a while but it'll be that much better when I do get it.

Just judging by the pictures and what I've heard, I will not be disapointed.

I'll be honest, I keep looking for a reason to NOT carry it, because my other knives are getting neglected. Problem is, it fills almost every requirement I have, and the only reason I can think to not carry it, is that I carried it every day this week.

Caly3 is a great knife. It is in my pocket all day long since I got it. I love it. Can not wait to get CF Caly3. The question is when???????????
Thank you for the great creation. I was waiting this knife for seven long months and it was worth it.

Sal, I love the looks! I can't wait to get my paws on one!! Now, what I'd really like to see is another version, G10, compression lock, lanyard hole and a slightly larger finger choil on the blade...oh yah, and S30V!!! But those things only as an alternate...kinda like having a waved D4 along w/all the others.

Am I the only one who would like to see these changes?
(Ok, so my Yojimbo needs another brother besides the Dodo!)

Sal, I would like to thank you again for producing the perfect edc for me! I have no doubts this knife will be a success and me buying 2 of them would certainly help in that! By the way, I have never bought two of any knife except for an extra regular small sebenza, so that should say something.

I've owned most of Spyderco models at some point, not as many as some of the guys here, but quite a number. I'm thinking that this may be the ultimate EDC knife given the price point. I like VG-10 as much as any other steel.

I don't think I could have timed my entry into the CC any better.

Thanks!

You made a perfect knife with this one Sal

It even kicked my all time favourite for the past few months, the D 3/SE out of my pocket. :D

I'm really hoping they hit the Canadian marketplace soon - haven't seen them up here yet. I was getting ansy last week so I bought an Adventura (I actually found one up here!!!!!) to get me by. It's pretty different to anything I currently own - but definitely no regrets on buying it :D It was lighter than I thought. Just a tad heavier than my D4 but not noticeably so. The more I look at that Caly3, though....... :)

FRN is okay, but I love G10. I hadn't planned on getting the Caly 3 just yet, but I just found one and it's on the way. :D

I so appreciate Sal and company designing and bringing to market a high quality small folder. As I keep saying, I love good knives with 2.75 - 3.00 inch blades.

I look forward to my Caly arriving late this week.

This is about tops of my "to buy" list. Unfortunately I had to replace my lost SS cricket first (one of my all time favourites) and then I accidentally bought a G10 Cara Cara (It was such a good deal, what was I to do???????) so it's going to have to wait a little while. Still, looks ideal Sal.
