so i got an ATR and...
2 questions for you. does anybody have that annpyiing lil rattle? i think it is from the clip. second question speaking of the clip is it hard for you guys to pull the knife out of your pockets? i was planning on putting this in my edc rotation but it is a major pain the butt to take the thing out of my pocket. i was just wondering if anybody else had these problems.
Yep. Just a few though. You can bend the clip out if you need to. Some posts have been made about that clip holding onto pants better than suspender clips. On the knives I've Waved for folks I've had to retension or replace the clip with a custom made one so it would work properly.
I think its one of those clips that you either love or hate. Seems to be very little middle of the road feelings about it but I could be wrong.

I have one, I dont have any rattling. The clip does have that problem though, itleast the SS doesnt eat your pockets. It just requires one to pul ones pants up to the chn to release :P I would suggest lightly bending it to the right place. I liek ti tight because then I can run and dotn have to worry about this heavy beast flying out.

could it be the "lock bar stabilizer" on the mobile part of the compression lock making that rattling sound? I think mine did.. my SS ATR clip is definitely a love it or hate it affair.....my opinion is that the edges are a little too sharp and that it will probably shred most my pants (for example....Dockers! chinos) pockets unless they are denim...for instance...then again if if took the time to "do the right thing" and remove the clip and decrease the tension a little bit....this shredding would probably cease....

For the past three weeks I've been using my new Black ATR as my on duty knife.I really like it alot but also have noticed that rattle.I think its the clip as well.Coincidently, just yesterday after a midday house fire,I tried to remove the knife from my wet pants pocket back at the Firehouse and it seemed to be cemented in.When I get a second tomorrow I plan on tying a lanyard on to help pull it out.

An even easier fix is to apply a drop of rubber cement around the edge of the ring. This totally removes the rattle. I used a toothpick to apply the rubber cement: you only need the tiniest bit to stop the rattle.Mr Blonde wrote:The rattle is the ring around the pin, on the inside of the handle, that makes up the lanyard hole. I fixed mine with some loctite, does require some assembly.

actually, this knife has a few potential rattles, when you tap on the pivot side/end of knife:
1. the main rattle on one of my PE Ti's is the blade vibrating within the frame. If i tighten the pivot screw a little it stops. but i like my blade a bit looser so I leave it loose.
2. my clip did buzz when i tapped on my knife. I lifted (bent) the clip upward a few thou.. now its silent.
3. the lockbar limiter stud/thing does not vibrate or rattle. I held a credit card on mine then tapped... no diff.

I had one. Hated the clip (as well as the same clip on the Lil' Temp). I also thought it was too thin and too slippery for me. It also got really cold when outside doing stuff (even when clipped to my pocket) during the winter. It was almost impossible to get out of my pocket. I sold it. :)

I just scored an ATR about 2 weeks ago for $70 and I had been meaning to start a thread here about the rattle, as I thought mine was the only one and was defective in some way. Mine rattles, but I have learned to live with it, as it is not in my EDC rotation. Mr. Blonde was right, it is that spacer where the lanyard hole is. I found this out by pushing a Q-Tip against it & shaking the knife - no rattle. Other than that, I have no complaints about the knife, it's awesome! I seem to have a preference for the knives with 'SAL' or 'EG' on the blade.

Had one... hated the clip... sold it. Loved the knife and would have edc'd it, but hated the clip.
As for the rattle.......
Yes, I've had the rattle in a few of my Spyders. It is the "lanyard hole." The cylinder just barely rotates inside the hole and causes a rattle (at least, that is what it was for me). I added a drop of super glue and it stopped it and didn't show.

I started to EDC my Atr but also found the clip too tight. So I took it out of rotation and stuck to my military around the house and other appropriate places.
I did not notice any rattles though.
Just as a side issue I think I have the same rattle on my millie and it seems to be the lanyard sleeve.
At least I know what the problem is after reading this thread. Now to fix it
Cheers everybody :)

:spyder: :spyder:  :spyder: :spyder: Mine don't have any rattles on either one. Wether you are talking about the ss, or titanium, I do have problems with deployment though. I guess we Atr freaks don't have to worry about our most prized possetion falling away from us :)
