Why do I get upload errors?

#1

Post by swede »

OK, here's the deal. I took some pix, stored them, edited them down to about 50 kb (well under forum max of 100), and when I try to attach them following Deacon's instructions, I keep getting an "upload error" message. No explanation.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any help,
Dave

We all get them - upload doesn't work.

Use http://www.tinypic.com to upload your pics, it will give you back a string to put in your post.

Hi Senate,
I agree, even though I see the beautiful pictures like the WTC pic in another thread by Mr. Blonde and I think I must be the only one having an upload problem!

Dave, some of us who have our own websites don't upload to the forum, or use hosts like imageshack or tinypics or villagephoto, we just host our pictures ourselves and link to them.

Yep, most of us these days host pics somewhere else or on our own little online domains. I really wish the update feature worked again. That way, the pics are preserved on the forums, for future reference or searches.

Good point, Wouter.
I learned it the the hard way...
Recently I attempted to clean up some photos I keep on ImageShack which wiped out all pictures from one of my multi-picture thread.
Fortunately, ImageShack has Un-Delete feature! :)

I have been getting the same error messages for the last two months. Only problem is on this site. I'm sorry I called the Spyderco spider a "deer tick". Now can I post pictures please?

You know, this is sorta funny. This topic reminds me of an earlier one of mine: Kill the webmaster!
But I do fully agree that this picture posting issue should be solved.
