Para redesign

#1

Post by J Smith »

So it looks like the para is for sure going to get an update.
How many of you would like to see a sprint run in whatever changes are done with BG42 steel and silver tweed G10 scales or coyote brown G10.

Count me in for the brown or silver G10 with BG42!

I would just like it exactly as it is now as far as size, and blade shape and steel only in a lock back. It would be fine in a limited run because if thats the case I'll just buy two but I think a lock back would be a great choice. Second maybe a frame lock. I'd buy it either way. Heck I'd buy it in a liner lock and turn it into a frame lock myself so that would be fine by me also.

I'd love for it to be made in BG-42. Currently I don't have any knives in that steel. Back-lock would be nice, but I would be fine with the Compression Lock. If it is a Sprint-Run, than some new type of handle material would be cool too.

I think Sal will have to decide on whatever design changes are done.
I was just thinking that with the new design a sprint run in BG42 and a differant color scale would be a nice way to reintroduce it.
With that being said I would like any lock better than the compression lock at least if it is still on the front side of the knife,I think I would love it if it was on the back side like the Gunting.

Sheesh, poor Sal. Hasn't even got the update into production, and we're already asking for an update to the update!

My input is for coyote brown G10 and, yes, BG-42 would be a great blade steel for the updated Para. Now I am going to have to edit my reply to the Para redesign thread - I hadn't thought about a different color G10.

From what Sal has posted, I don't think that a different lock or any other "major" redesign changes are in the offing.

I was intending to get the updated model, does this mean I will need to get two? :D

I have no complaints on the Para. I would not personally buy BG-42. The only real refinements it needs is ambidextrous tip and for the downers, tip down carry. The compression lock has proven itself as has G10, and CPM-S30V. I simply do not see it aching for a redesign.

After seeing all the possible changes that people want, I'm leaning more towards changing nothing at all. I really like it that much. :)

I'd be very interested in a Sprint run in BG-42. Interesting scales would be a plus - perhaps a colored CF?

I'm always beating the more colors drum!

I'd love to see either blue g-10 or peel pry CF scales. I think the new foilage green would be super sweet too.

Hi Jeff,
Not sure about the BG-42 (I know you guys are gonna laugh but my favorite still remains VG-10) :o but I'd definitely jump at the silver G-10. Especially with the reshaped blade, I think I'm gonna like the new Paramillie.

Leave it pretty much the same except1) beef up lock & tolerances and 2) save BG42 for designs like navigator and the AUS 10A replacement Native. The Paramilitary should have M4 steel. The potential of this design is probably the greatest of all current spydercos. ZDP 189 wouldn't be the answer here. You need more of a truck engine than a sportscar engine. A mean truck. Joe L.

The Para is worthy of a re-tooling, such a great knife as is, a few changes would be great "few" being the key word. As: Tip Up/Tip Down carry, diff color G10, shorter length handle. But that's about it, no wholesale renovations required.
You know Sal is giving me what I want, 1. Improved Calypso Jr. 2. Improved Para Military.

Love the Para just the way it is.... NO complaints.... If there will be any changes as for a Sprint run... How about tip up with Camo G-10....
