Fixed Blade Native!

#1

Post by UK KEN »

Hello All

A friend of mine over on British Blades recently created (with Sals perrmission) a very nice knife. :) He has asked me for my opinion as to how much interest there would be in the knife.

What do you gentlemen think?

Can't answer without seeing pictures. There are a number of things I like about the Native design, and one I don't care for at all - the swedge grind.

Great wood! Looks like it would be a very practical knife as well. But I'd like it a lot better without the swedge grind.

I'll second what Deacon has said...I would consider the Native more seriously if it didn't have that swedge grind....Doc :D

I like it myself. Though I understand that in many of your States a double edged knife is forbidden, the swedge not only looks good, aids penetration but also lends itself to sharpening. :) Having said that I do like more the "sweeping" swedge on the Native III.

I love the blade shape, but the points between the choils seem too pronounced for me - reminds me of the Native lll, which I don't like for hard cutting because of those points.

Have to agree about the swedge - the Native is my EDC, but the swedge has always looked "unfinished", as if someone didn't finish grinding it.

I'd say the swedge looks much more at home on a FB than the folding Native.

I really love the fat belly on it, but I'm kinda odd like that. Only deep bellies or hawkbills or wharnie for me!

It's very nicely done, but I'm not a huge fan of FBs, they don't have the snicker-snack of a well built folder :D

Looks good. but it looks m,ore Native 3 than 1. I kinda prefer the 1.

Im loving it,
i like to look and size of it. I agree it is more like native 3 sized, but w/ a fixed blade that is a good thing IMO. I would loave to see a production version w/ VG-10 and steel liners, but keep it FRN so as to keep cost down. Also having a tec-lok kydex sheath would make it perfect.

Guess I'm the only one unable to get on BB?

Can someone else do a ping? Has the IP changed and my DNS not updated or so?

Nice looking knife but I don't care for it too much. The wood handles seem too fat and I don't like how the blade (or handle) is canted downward a little.

If he would have made it just like what the Native looks like open but only a fixed blade I would like it.

I also don't like the swedge. :)
