MN07S - Mini Police Necklace

#1

Post by ruxton »

BRING IT BACK!! Not quite the same though... keep the actual design the same (SE, Ti scales), but with a H-1 blade instead of ats-34.

I was thinking the other day it's the one single knife I ALWAYS have on me, also it's probably the one knife I've used most over the years(!). I've been through 3 chains, and everytime it breaks I've been immensely lucky and not lost the knife, I actually lost it in town once and re-traced my movements for an hour before finding it in a gutter. I know my luck can't last forever though... :(

..... :o .....

I plead the fifth...

The Police necklace just seems like a novelty to me. Perhaps I haven't handled one and just don't "get it" but the knife is too small to get a decent grip on it, and if I'm going to have a knife dangling around my neck, I'd rather it be a fixed blade.

In order for a fixed blade to cut me, it's gotta fall out of it's sheath(very possible) but I'd be willing to bet I'd notice it real quick. For a folder to cut me, it just needs to open, and I doubt I'd notice that very quickly.

Not to mention you'd have to take the whole thing off to use it, unless you were cutting something two inches in front of your face(not on my list of things to do :p ) and that just seems inconvenient.

I've got nothing against Ti and H-1, just not as folder on a chain around my neck. :o

i suspect a Finch, Jester, Starling, or Ladybug would make for a decent neck-folder. just throw some ball chain through the lanyard hole and you're in business. how much smaller is the Police necklace than the above mentioned?

A police necklace absolutely resembles your remark. Functional jewelry. Not everything has to be able to perform for SEALS on tour IMO. It was a fun piece and I doubt it would ever come back...but if it does: Titanium and H1 would be great!

True, but it's just so tiny. I rarely wear jewelry because it get's lost. Anything smaller than a full size Police on a chain would get lost(and that would be some Spyder jewelry Mr. T. would wear) :p

It's a cool idea, but not for me. ;)

Like I said the chain on mine went very quickly, so I put it on a slightly longer and stronger ball chain, I've worn mine constantly for at least 5 years and I've never had mine open on me accidentally.

Obviously it's not built for heavy or even medium cutting, you can't get a particularly good grip on it and you can only cut things about 6-7 inches in front of your face.

That's fine for me though, the majority of daily cutting tasks I am faced with can be handled with my necklace, and if they can't it's a fair bet I'll have something else on me (cricket/yojimbo) that can do the job.

As long as you don't try and cut down a tree with it (done that before with a harpy :D ) or use it all day opening cardboard boxes (cricket) it will last as long, and perform as well, as any other spydie. The only problem I've ever had with it is discolouration of the blade from it getting wet (hence H-1).

Also note I live in the UK and it's getting very risky to be wandering about with spydies nowadays, often it's the ONLY knife I have on me.

One other thing... just a thought really, if the worst comes to the worst and there is nothing better available, yank it off breaking the chain, two handed open (obviously) and put it between the middle 2 fingers, gripping the chain in your hand...

I can't see them making a knife as small as the mini-police with anything other than a back-lock... How about a mini-mini-manix or a mini-harpy. Dunno how small they can make bits of G-10 though.

I'd love to see annother mini neck folder. Wouldn't hafta be the police though. Wouldn't a mini-civilian be a really cool match to a mini-police?

That's what my girlfriend said, I don't see how you could do it though. The tip would have to be like a needle.

I have to admit, your girlfriend sounds really cool :)

I'm sure that some compromise would have to be made like reducing the pointy-ness of the tip, but I have always been a sucker for the civilian.

This is why I love this forum! H1 steel on a mini Police is a great idea. That Lil guy has bailed me out many times. With H1 I would have to fight the rust so much. Now I dont really consider it jewelry so why not a longer stronger chain from the factory?..The last one was high on my neck and so thin I gave it to my daughter and put a ball chain on with a clasp latch so I could release it upon need. It cuts like crazy for its size..so I vote YES :D and hope for:

-H1 Steel

-Anodizied Titanium handle-just to make them different!

-Bigger ,Stronger Chain.

Ohh ..My kids laughed at me pretty hard when I showed The Mini Police to them...they said I got ripped off on that "lil tiny" knife. It was a little funny.

They did a tie-clip version and a necklace version. TBH any small folder specifically designed to be worn as a necklace would do, rust-proof would be nice but I wouldn't mind if they came up with a completely new knife designed specifically for it, rather than a mini version of something else. If memory serves they have also done a mariner necklace in the past, and obviously the spyderkeys, although they weren't designed as a necklace.
