Flat ground Chinook is out...

Does anybody have one? Care to post a few pics and a review? Thanks!!
A store up here in Canada has a few but I might wait and look for a used one in a few months.

Im ordering one tomorrow. Flat ground makes a big difference and the biggest difference (other than blade design) is weight. However, I've never been one to care about weight.

When did these come out? The chinook is my all time favorite knife and i've been hoping for a new version. Does anyone know where I can get one? :D :spyder:

I'm glad to hear you don't think it will be discontinued any time soon. That means I don't have to rush to get two of them,( pe & ce). I still need to get a CE chinook II. But I'm already looking for the flat ground version after seeing the pics.

It was "announced" by showing it in this year's catalog. They have been more or less waiting for the old style to dry up in supply and replacing it with the flat ground...as I understand it.

Call Keating at Comtech...He'll even personally sign the box for you and he has them in stock :D

No worries, I got my catalog at the beginning of the year...everyone was talking about the new Chinook. I looked at the specs/materials...everything but the blade grind. :o I didn't see any changes, The Deacon had to point it out for me. :p

I just emailed comtech for a price. I keep coming back to this thread to look at the picture. I can't believe they came out with another version. I'm really looking forward to getting one. I was planning on the manx being my next knife, but now that will have to wait. :rolleyes: :spyder:

Call Jim himself. He or his wife will answer. Around $130 shipped he is selling for. I'm not worried about other prices...it's paying respect to the Master of Arms who designed it and an honor to buy from him.

I could'nt agree more. The chinook is my all time favorite knife, and I have been a fan of Mr. Keatings for a long time. I still have my copy of Knifeforums magazine with the chinook article written by him.

I'd like more pics too. If anyone has one how does it compare to the other chinook's. All of mine came more than scary sharp from the factory, but I imagine the flat ground will be the sharpast of them all. Does that sound right? I think it will be even easier to sharpen too.

I'm curious to know if this change is enough of a change to be considered a variation? I.E. will the collector's club be activated for the flat grind Chinook?

The fact is that I like it very much, but have already others on order, so it looks like there wont be a Chinook II for me so soon...

Luckily it doesn't sound like a limited edition so by the time you build up enough money to buy one, it should be ready and waiting for you. :cool:
