I have been thinking about getting a Mini Manix for some time now. Every time someone posts a picture of one of them I get more tempted to buy one. However, I think that it may be too thick for my taste. My Lil Temp gets some pocket time as one of my EDC knives but not as much as some other smaller/thinner folders. The Lil T is right on the border of being too thick for me to carry all of the time.

Could someone tell me how the thickness of the Mini Manix compares with that of the Lil Temp? Is it the same, thinner, or thicker? From the pictures that I have seen, I'd guess that the Mini Manix is thicker.

Any top-down pictures of a Mini Manix/Lil Temp comparison would be greatly appreciated also :D

It is kind of hard to tell but it appears like the MiniManix is thinner than the Lil Temp by a millimeter or so. If this is true then I might be a little bit closer to buying a Mini Manix

Actually, I have them both right here. I pulled out my calipers and this is what I measured.
Lil Temp: .544in/13.80mm
80mm Manix: .495in/12.57mm

I can't help you with a comparison but the Mini-Manix is just over 12 mm. thick while an Endura 3 for instance is just under 10.

the mini manix is a much better carry than the lil temp. it fits the pocket better

:spyder: I don't like to dis the Lil' T as it is the best knife ever made but the baby-manix,although the clip is nowhere near as perfect, does carry very well. :spyder:

Oh no, it looks like I will have to buy a MiniManix and give it a try. Now that I know its thinner than the Lil Temp I have no reason not to buy it! It is good to hear that it carries well. Even if I really like a knife, if it doesn't carry well, then I don't seem to take it with me as much for an EDC.

Along with it being thinner, I think that I will also prefer the clip design of the MiniManix. The clip placement seems like it will allow the knife to carry rather low in the pocket. And IMO its "traditional" Spyderco clip is superior to the one that is used on Lil Temp.

agreed, I very much dislike the Lil Temp clip. the Mini Manix rides nice and low in the pocket, but not so low that it is hard to retrive it. The clip also keeps a good pressure so it doesn't slip out and become lost easily.

They are both great knives!! It has been a few people's opinions though that the Mini Manix is not much of a mini. It is a strong knife and it is not a light knife, but it is not a hard knife to carry either. It will also be easier to find than the Lil' T, as it is discontinued.

the mini is not mini, but it is not large either. It is a nice medium sized knife with a nice heft to it. It is not bulky however, Spyderco really executed this knife perfectly. Mu opinion on size and heft may be skewed somewhat as I tend to carry a Strider AR quite regularly, but I doubt it.

For what it is worth, the weight difference. Measured with fairly accurate scales at work.

Lil Temp: .30lb/136gr
80mm Manix: .36lb/163gr

Wow, I have a good eye, and I can't see that, in that picture.
Maybe I need a new monitor.

WHile the Mini Manix may be a tiny bit thinner than the Li'l Temp, its blocky symmetrical handle is a little less friendly than the Li'l Temp on my hands. Still, after comparing the two I still the think the Mini Manix is the best successor to date for the Li'l Temp.

I think that the S30V Lil Temp feels a little boxy in my hand. To remedy this, I simply did some minor reprofiling of its handle with files and sandpaper. Now it fits like a glove. I think that if I picked up a MiniManix I may have to do the same type of reprofiling to make me happy with the feel of the handle.

Wouter, I had previously seen your comparison of the MiniManix & the Lil Temp. It was one of the reasons why I became interested in picking up a MiniManix :cool:
