Does anybody have a E4 or D4 with phosphor bronze washers?
I have seen many threads posted over the past few months where people seem to have noticed that the D4 and E4 dont have these washers. I have checked mine and have noticed that they dont have them either.
Spyderco does advertise them as having them though. Perhaps its just a error in thier catalogue.

I have a waved D4 with PB washers. I had one regular D4 with nylon washers, and one with PB as well.

Maybe it was an early production mistake?

That was my guess as well. It seems most of the early models had nylon washers, and the question popped up a lot. But when Spyderco checked their supply, they found mostly PB washers, which makes sense because they likely had later shipments after the mistake was fixed.
There's probably still a bunch of nylon washered models floating around at some dealers.
Who knows, I just like to speculate

I asked this question in a similarily related thread: what inpires a person to take a knife apart to check the washers? It seems similar taking a car apart to check the internal parts (although not as complex)...why do it unless there is a problem?

At least Andre has a good excuse, as I mentioned in the other thread, I do it just because I can.
No real reason other than that :p

What about the waves? Has anyone discovered NOT having PB in the waved endura? Hopefully, this is an uncommon mistake.

Yes and yes! I don't know what all the fuss is really, I have never found :spyder: ies to be rough opening whatever the/lack of washers used.
Cheers,
Rob

My Delica 4 SS has PB washers. You can check that through clip screw holes using good flashlight.

I've taken my Delica4 apart after reading Mr. Blondes thread and it seems that my knife does in indeed have PB washers.
