How do you refer to your knives when speaking about them? He, she, or neither? I've seen some refer to their knives with certain genders, just wondering if anyone else does this.

I consider my inanimate objects just that...unless they cut me...then a few gender related expletives may be uttered. :o

Its bad enough that some of us sleep with our knives, giving it a gender seems a little much. That being said my CF millie is a her and my Native is a him

Ooh. I generally despise adding a gender to knives. Yeah, "Mrs. Knife" really wants to be driven headfirst into the ground to cut roots or smashed edge-first into a log to make firewood or dig mud from the soles of sneakers. Maybe the guys who habitually do that do so because women are the only people doing actual work in their houses.

I do refer to knives as children in unisex terms, though. Little bubby, baby bubby, and chubby bubster have all made life easier and more colorful.

Cars and motorcyles are female, but beyond that I don't attach gender to my toys.

Delicate? This is the Spyderco forum not the ****** forum. :p

Many languages assing gender to their nouns...I wonder what the male/female breakdown for the word knife would be amongst the world's languages? I agree that if gender was to be assigned it would be masculine.

So far we have:
French: M

If my memory of high school Spanish is accurate (highly unlikely) than in Spanish it is also masculine.

El cuchillo.

Knife is masculine, but sword (la espada) is feminine, I would have expected the other way around.

Alohahahahaha Scott!

Funny one...it depends on the knife for me. :o I mean, just look at the curves on the Persian and Adventura... :p

Not sure about the SF though...it's been refered to as a "biscuit" as well as a lil' Monster!

God bless Knifebrother

I like my knives a lot, but I am not so far as to give them names or make love to them :D ....so I would have to go with the last on the list.
