Endura 4 or Paramilitary?

#1

Post by Django »

Hi guys, I think it's about time to get a new knife :D

I can't decide between a SS Endura 4 or a Paramilitary...

Could anyone provide ups and downs of each, or maybe link me to a few reviews? Anyone's assistance would be helpful.

I have to say that the Para is a real winner!! Very light and very strong. It is a gem.

Hey Django, IMHO the Para-Mili. Lighter, excellent blade steel, and "Compression Lock". Every review I've read gives the Para-Mili a "Big Thumbs Up". Everyone who has one and has mentioned it have nothing but good things to say about it. It is one of those "Have to Have" spydies. I don't have one YET, and will probably be one of my next spydies. This is just my opinion. I believe in Personal Preference. So, I'd get the one that you would be more comfortable with. Besides you'll end up with both of them eventually. :D ;)

God Bless :)

The Paramilitary is one of those favorites among people. I had one and didn't keep it just because it took up so much space in my pocket. The 14mm hole and blade design make for a big hump. Other than that it was a spectacular knife.

Paramilitary, no doubt.

I think it's the best mid sized knife on the planet.

The best ergonomics of all mid sized :spyder: :spyder: I have

I was definitely leaning towards the Para from the beginning, and now I'm definitely going to get one soon. Thanks guys, nice pics. (Mind sharing more? I personally think it is a beautiful knife :p )

Agreed with the rest - Paramilitary. Don't get me wrong, the Endura is a pretty nice knife as well, but it's larger than you think :D I have the FRN/PE one and when I was at the store, it didn't "seem" that big, but when I got it home, for some reason, it was bigger :) The para is a little larger width-wise in the handle and depending on the type of pocket you clip it in, it can get in the way - I clip mine in my cargo pants pocket when it's on rotation. Will I get an Endura 4? It's very likely I'll get one - FRN one for me, though - I do prefer the lightness. It's OK for my Endura on weekends, but it does tend to raise a few eyebrows at the office.

IMO, these two knives are like an apple and an orange. Yes, they both look and taste good, but it all comes down to what YOU want. :)

I would suggest the Para.. Light as a feather and tough as a tank. The compression lock is the best lock Spyderco makes, IMO. You can not go wrong with the Para. Actually, I don't think I have ever heard anyone say they disliked it.

If possible, get both. :)

You're a knifeknut? You must get a Paramillie!

I don't like the exposed tang of the para when folded, or the tip-down only 'mandate' (it's not an 'option'). But that flat grind, ergos and materials make it the winner. Plus, you can always get an Endura 4 later on. :D

No doubt, Paramilitary is great. What i don't like about it, as well as with the big Military, are the carry options. It only alows tip down, right pocket carry which i dislike.
If you need a general purpose knife for every day use, get a Paramilitary. If you are interested into self defense get the Endura 4. I love it's 3 carry options clip. For the price of Paramilitary you'll also get the new Endura trainer.
Or wait for the new waved Endura, just as i am

Both knives are strong enough for every ''normal'' choir you will ever put them against so i wouldn't worry about the Endura being too weak.
