i never liked this knife before despite all the glowing reviews and versatile hunting blade shape. yesterday i purchased a pe, mint condition one as i was overwhelmingly won over by it's fit and finish and useful look.
no disappoinments here boys!
sorry, i don't have a digital camera.
no wonder, spyderco brought back a similiar design with the ocelot.
hail the wenger! :)

They are somewhat similar but the original wenger wights 6 oz while the ocelot only ways 4r ounces. The original Wagner you know has a single thick steel liner instead of being a backlock. And loss and had an inset steel liner and a lockbar coming from the other direction??? I can remember it's been awhile since I had it. And there are a few other differences.
Just a heads-up the clip on your Wagner is screwed directly into the G_10 so be careful if you're removeing the clip and replacing it for whatever reason.

outlaw, dude, that's a borderline mental obsession you've got their for the wenger. i'm a fan but.... :
nice.
so, what's the big draw about it for you?

I'm a fan of the Wegner as well (see some pics in the "Hunters" thread).
I really like the beefy steel backstrap, and it just feels right in my hand -- very natural, "points" well, & ready to cut!

Well let me clarify things a bit, I have:
1 C48 CE that was my EDC for about 3 or 4 years & has been through ****!
1 C48 CE I bought as a back up to my EDC when I found one on ebay really cheap.
1 C48 PE I picked up at the SFO when I lived in Denver. It was the last one they had so....
1 C49 PE (see above reason)
1 C49 CE I bought from Tim Wegner who autographed the box for me.
1 C49 CE I bought as a user.
1 Numbered C49 PE I recently found on ebay cheap, #472
What's the big draw... good question ...I'm not really sure....Maybe....
The shape.
The Big Wegner fits my hand like no other. I can draw, open the blade, & spin the C48 into a reverse grip so fast it'd make Daywalker proud! :p
I can't do that with any other knife I have, the knife's balance probably has something to do with it.
The blade.
It's about the perfect shape, (IMHO) & I can make it's ATS-34 extremely sharp & it stays that way for a good long time. It's also built like a tank. Maybe not a M1A1, but at least a M4 Sherman. ]The sound[/B]
NO knife SOUNDS like a Wegner when you open it. Kinda like rackin' a 12 ga. :D
They're kinda like my K5 Blazer, the design just "works" for me.
The next best deal around is the C16 Goddard, just love that big honkin' knife!
Now if the Goddard was made with a G10 handle....
