Well,
The C-42 Viele plain edge is on the way
I also have a Wayne Goddard that evidently is a discontinued model.
I think the Viele is one of the prettiest knifes I have seen in a long time and I like Micarta scales.
Would you guys actually carry it ? Or is it something I want to put away for collector value ?

I have my Viele in my daily rotation that I carry. It is one of the nicest knives I have ever had the privledge of owning. Probably one I carry the most. The steel is incredible and it looks classy enough to go with a suit. The only thing I did was change out the clip. I prefered the black clip to make it a little more discreet. Enjoy.

Of course whether to carry or store is a personal decision.
I believe that one cannot fully appreciate the charm of these fine products without carrying them and using them. To me, most of the delight I derive from ownership of Spyderco products comes from the experience of using them, and the more often the better.
Knives like the Viele are gorgeous to look at, but more attractive still when held in the hand and cut with.
I would use this knife, and enjoy it all day instead of occasionally when you are able to take time to examine your collection.

i agree with jeff/1911 unless of course you wanted to have a n.i.b. for future sale or inherance of the coletion. i know some people buy two of the same modle one to use and one to store if they what one in presine condion.

The Viele is beautiful to look at and handle as a work of craftmanship. Butt it is very functional and I have used mine often on cuts of meat both on my plate in a restaurant and on the barbeque at home. I have cleaned many trout with my Viele. It is effecient and easily cleaned due to its open back. Not near as slippery as one might think when wet. I have used it as an icepick, butt one caution, if you do this turn it around blade away from you with your thumb over the top and it actually is pretty secure.
I have plain and serrated older ones and one plainedged newer VG10 model. I retired my older plainedge, which still is like new, in favor of the newer model which I figure I can replace if necessary, As you might guess these are my favorite Spydies

The question of carry or keepsake is a very personal one reflecting each persons view of their life's
possesions. We all have a few things that "please" us to the point that we wouldn't dream of parting
with them. Those , I feel, we should use and enjoy as part of life's bounty. As "our" personal items
they then take on the value to our family of a keepsake. We all only get one trip through this life
so ,for myself, I'll use the knives, rings etc. that "please" me to make them a part of my life. It all
adds to the gusto.....Carry the knife ....enjoy it in the full.
