I'm actually searching for a basic, pure-ligned, but not expensive (about $50), utility folder. A solid and simple model, with plain edge and and stainless steel scales ( eg. Delica and the likes)

What do you tip about?

I would probably recommend either a delica or endura. just depends on what you wanna do with it. Or maybe a harpy or native

I'd say your either loking for a Native or Delica.

We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

I have to say that I find your signature line rather disturbing. I assume that you are not serious and that it is an attempt at humour but I'm afraid that it is that sort of thing that can only do harm to the cause of those of us who love knives. I'm not sure what the laws are like in Belgium, but many of us (myself included) live in jurisdictions where knives are seen only as weapons and which have very repressive knife carrying regulations as a result. I believe it is our duty to promote the use of knives as tools and any discussion of knives as weapons needs to be very low key and responsible as it is in the MBC Forum. I am concerned about the impression your signature line might have on any anti-knifer who happened to stumble into this forum.

I hope you will take this post in the way it is intended. It is certainly not meant to be a flame but just one old man's opinion.

Given another thread in which I just posted, and for the first occasion didn't criticize the signature lines, it appears that Joc and Caleb are using this forum as much for e-mail as anything else.

Despite the other thread being mostly in French, there was use of a word not appropriate for "family hour." I know I swear, so perhaps shouldn't be throwing stones. Still, am disturbed at the juvenile antics of our Belgian newbies.

I like the Endura in SS, but that decision must fall to the user. The feel is great, the lockup solid as the proverbial rock, and the edge was able to shave right out of the box.

Thanks for your recommodations, I think I'll choose the "Delica". But what other brands knives corresponding at my description do you like?
Excuse Caleb for his irresponsible behavior, I'm not approving it and I also recommanded him to use the caramail chat. And for the use of a word not appropriate for family hours, it was just a confusion with a bad word-game.

With all the brand names out there, I would stick with Spyderco, and for what you are looking for, make it a Delica or Endura. But, don't rule out the Calypso Jr. either.
Don't cut corners on price, because you pay for what you get, and with Spyderco, the price is well worth what you get !

Hey Caleb, no need to apologise. There's been more than one occasion here when my attempts at humour have gone over like a lead balloon. Now I try my jokes out on my wife before I post them <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>.

Joq, the Delica II (the stainless model) is a great knife except that the blade steel (AUS6) is at the lower end of the steels used by Spyderco. This was done to keep the price down but may mean that it's not such a good long term investment. Before you decide, check out the stainless Calypso Jr which uses AUS8 steel in the blade. This takes a very fine edge and is harder than the than AUS6 so will stay sharp longer. Or look at the stainless Native which has a blade of AUS10, a very good steel ineed. If you go to the 'Edge-U-Cation' link at the top of the page you can find out more about these steels. The Delica is an old design but has been refined over the years. The Native and Calypso Jr are later designs and both incorporate a finger choil between the handle and the blade, a feature I like very much.
