Tip Recovery

#1

Post by Thomas J Ekman »

I posted this a couple of days at Bladeforums. After having considered some of the ideas in that thread, I've given it some more thoughts. To restore a very slightly rounded tip of my Delica, can I use the grooves in the ceramic rods of the Sharpmaker to get the tip back in order?

Just use a benchstone, or the grey rods on the 203/204 and change the angle until you have a point. I mean, just "file" away with the blade perpendicular to the stone. When your point is there, then regrind the blade to an edge. Hint: if the Delica is serrated, sharpen BOTH sides of the tip once you've reprofiled and it will be A LOT stronger.
