"crowbar with an edge"

#1

Post by FRIZ »

Gentlemen:
I am looking for a crowbar with an edge.
I am interested in the following fixed knife overall sizes:
10” or less
9” or less
8” or less
A friend recommended the Strider DB (8” or less) and the Strider MT (10” or less).
Price is of minor concern. Quality is most important to me.
Thank you,
Regards,
FRIZ

FRIZ, welcome.
I have a Strider DB, and it might be the most heavily (over)built knife that I own. I can't imagine destroying the knife even if I tried.

Its cutting edge is quite effective, and the thickness, combined with the tip, do combine to make it a sharpened crowbar that's very easily concealable and a decent cutter.

I also have a Strider HT that is a very good cutter, and still 1/4" thick for ridiculous durability. This is an excellent medium-sized knife that I also can't imagine ever breaking, even under the most obscene abuse.

I've also heard good things about the MT, but don't own one. It's a larger, field-type knife.

when I think of a sharpened crowbar, images of my BT come to mind. That is if you like a tanto blade(and Strider's are usually a bit different that others found on tghe market). It's a good enough cutter but what it's mostly about is it's super thick stock and fat point. Sort of a non-concealable DB.

I tend to use my WB more but that's only a question of taste.

of course, Strider isn't the only company to make a tough knife

have a look at the Jones Bros. Entry tool or a Merwork fixed blade.

let us know what you chose

Hi FRIZ, if I had the money, I would get a Strider. If you ever break it, they will fix it or replace it. They have the best warranty in the industry.

I just saw mick strider tell a customer to lick his sack. I would never buy from someone like that.

I have no crow bars with an edge. I'd stick with a Busse or a swamp rat type of knife, considering strider's attitude.

Busse and Swamp Rat can't be beat for tough user fixed blades, both in product and customer service.

Since price is of no concern, I would definitely going with a Busse, even if you have to buy one on the bladeforums. After Mr. Striders recent response to some QC issues, I would be thinking twice about buying a Strider, even though I do understand some of the reasons of his anger.

I would say Strider is an excellent choice.
Busse combat are also awesome.

Mick Strider did not tell the customer that, He told some one else that after they attacked his product, after he said send it in and I will replace it. I read the whole thread and It turned into a Mick Strider bashing Negative really lame thread, and he got PO. I have seen threads here attacking Spyderco for the same thing. If you have a problem with a manufacturers product contact them first, Excellent companys like Spyderco, Strider, Busse, and CRK, will make you happy. Dont go on some forum when you bought a second hand used knife from a nondealer Strider dealer and bad mouth an entire company. The dealer and Mick both told the guy they would make it right. It looks like that was a knife that left the factory nonretail, a second if you will and was not meant to be sold. I cant stand threads like that here or anywhere. I will say as an owner of Strider knives, Mick Strider and his company stand behind there product 100%.

Oh yes that knife that started that flame war, I would pay the guy who got it a profit to put it in my collection! Worker

uM you can beat them easily. Busse and swamp rat own striders warrenty hardcore.

Ive been reading for weeks that Striders keep getting worse and worse. You could buy an SMF for $475 and sell it for $460. Nowe you cAN SELL IT FOR $400. i see them as loosing value. Maybe their is just to high a demand, for them. But If I spent $500 on a knife, id send it back as many times untill the knife is perfect.

When I came here I was told, if you wnat perfection buy a custom, thogh it seems to be the opposite. productions seem to be a better fit and finsih than customs.

But the company is made by its customers. if people buy messed up products, they will sell messed up products. Its the consumers choice and the consumers can change the company.

Strider has always stood 100% behind their warranty for me.

The idiots who started that flame war "over there" didn't realize one thing; that was a Strider "BRO" knife. What's a BRO knife? It's a knife with cosmetic issues (nothing wrong with it physicallY) that's sent FREE to law enforcement officers or military personnel. Yeah, sounds like Mick's a real prick, don't it? He'd HAVE to be, after sending men in uniform a FREE knife, huh?

As far as Mick being a felon....what's your point? Are his knives inferior because of his legal background? I don't understand your point, except to personally bash the man's personal reputation for no reason.

And if you think Striders aren't in demand.....ROFLMAO....see just how available his knives are right now, and how easy it is to get one. Let me know how ya make out.

What's more...he just filled an order of approximately 8,000 knives for our armed forces that are ISSUE items. I guess our Special Operations Teams think enough of his knives to special order them.

Your joking correct. I highly doubt that.

That answers that

Free knife, again i doubt that

would you trade a knife with me and ship first?
my point

Striders are easy to get, Tad, Blueline, Arizona Custom,Steel Addiction Knives,
PMDC Tactical

all have them availible.

but Jim, from someone who deals with felons everyday, i didnt expect that from you.

But you can buy what you want and this is not the place for it. But for somebody to say lick my sack to a customer. That is insane. Il stick with spyderco. Sal is a Business man who is experienced and knows how to handle the good and the bad. Mick cannot.

Vincent,
I've received a few BRO knives from Mick. I've met the man, and can honestly say that it seems he has more integrity in his pinky finger than you have in your whole being. Your attack on the man's personal past is both trashy and in very poor taste.

How about the thousands of knives Strider ships to our Special Ops guys? Hmmmm?

No, given the lack of character you're showing here, I would NOT ship a knife to you under any circumstances. You are manipulating falicies as if they're facts to slander a good man.

And what the **** is up with the link? All it shows is a hand-stamp that wasn't perfectly aligned. If you're buying a knife JUST for the hand-stamped logo, that's pretty vain. Personally, I buy knives for their performance.

Sorry, Vincent, but you just proved to everyone here, with your piss-poor, personal attack on the man that you have less integrity than he does, and less character.

As for dealing with felons every day...I rely on my judgement of character to keep me alive. It's not steered me wrong even once, so I'll leave your accusation at that.

Clearly, you have a personal axe to grind. That much is obvious.

I wont argue, I just will never buy

PS: that pictures shows that knives come with the messed up brand all the time. It wasent a 2nd hand knife. People have complained about stiders piss poor quality control for months.

Again, I'm not certain what Mick's past has to do with his present business. You sink lower each time you defame others' character. But then, we wouldn't expect anything else from you.
