Favorite "gentleman's" knife?

When dressed up - at work, church, etc - I usually carry the Delica PE FRN.

The blade on the Delica is kind of borderline "PC"... I'm looking for something in a 2.5" blade... I was thinking maybe the Dragonfly.

Anyway, what do you guys usually carry as your "PC" EDC? I need something I can whip out and start picking my fingernails without raising eyebrows, yet still have enough size to tackle larger problems.

In "social" situations, a Kiwi is my personal choice 90% of the time, the jigged bone version seems to fit just about everyones notion of what a "gentleman's pocketknife" should look like. The plain all stainless version also goes over well. For truly "state occasions" I grab a C27 Jess Horn.

If you're right handed, and like the idea of a clip, the Kopa is another highly "PC" possibility. The Navigator II, Dragonfly, and Cricket also are small enough not to offend too many folks.

I have one word for you.

Kopa

I find the micarta version to be a beautiful piece of work. Good for non-knife people... and one heck of a cutter. Big punch in a little package.

You know, I don't have any knife that would fit the description of "gentlemen's knife"

That is a niche I'm going to have to fill.

My own gentle carry is a micarta Dyad Jnr  but I always thought a Carbon Fibre Dragonfly or the Toad would also nicely do.

I think I'll buy the Kopa AND the Dragonfly.

I like the Jess Horn - mine is in CE FRN. Very sleek and elegant and fits my hand well. But the blue Walker is also quite the knife. I interchange both - its a mood thing :D

I'm afraid that I'm in the same situation. Perhaps now that I'm involved here and am more aware of Spydercos and the different models it'll be easier to pick up something in this category? I could use one. Right now I don't have anything of this nature either. :(

That shall be rectified soonest!

Turner hit the nail on the head- my slant is the Jess Horn II in Burgundy Micarta along with the LW FRN version. I'd also pick the Kiwi, Kopa, Herbst, Walker variants, and a few of the smaller knives, like Almite Nav, Pegasus, or SS Cricket.

While there was a rush to liquidate their inventory of discontinued Spydercos there was a time when the Commemorative Worker could be had for much less than it was worth. I bought two, and I carry one of these whenever I don't anticipate hard use. The original Worker was my first Spydie back in 1984 and I still like the pointed blade and its hole'istic history. :)
And it even came with a box

I carry an SS cricket. Fully serrated. It's a gentlemans knife because it's shiny :)

My newly developed theory on a gentleman's knife says it should be fancy and functional, seeing some of the other forumites Sante Fe Stoneworks knives inspired me to obtain my own.[img][/IMG]
I got mine for less than a Kopa...the other great choice. :D

Several come to mind.

First and foremost would be the Centofante III, followed by Calypso Jr. followed by a Jess Horn Micarta if you can find one. Beautiful little knife there IMO. It would easily be my first choice if it were still in the line up of what is available.

I just got a Viele II yesterday. It looks great and sits low in the pocket. Everyone who has seen it comments on how good it looks, i seem to get a different reaction when i whip out my lil temp or my spyderhawk!!!

Since I live in Canada, most people get offended easily. For non-knife people I will always go with the kopa. Any other knives such as a navigator or poliwog are just too much.

It's a lock back with nice "fancy" scale. The only other knife i could possibly use without having to check over my shoulder would be the cricket.

Lots of great recommendations here. In the circumstances you describe, I will have either a Centofante III in my suit jacket or a Spur SS in my pant's pocket (OK, sometimes both :) ) but, then again, I don't own a Kiwi or a Kopa yet :( .
