Hi all!

This is my first post here (and might be the last one too because I don't have too much time to things like this??? :-( ).

I just like to share couple of thougts about spydies that I own.

Here's my opinions:

1. Dragonfly Lightweight (PlainEdge)

Great little knife. This one is in my pocket allmoust everytime.

2. Pro-Grip Lightweight

I like this. PlainEdge and a removable clip would be nice.

3. Rescue

Special knife for special purposes. I don't use this much...

4. Endura Lightweight (PlainEdge)

I think this is too big to be a folder. If I carry/need a knife this size I use a fixedblade.

5. Delica Lightweight (PlainEdge)

My first spydie. Great knife, but I don't use it much anymore because I have even better ones now... ;-)

6. Native (Lightweight 35/65, stainless PlainEdge)

I have two Natives. I don't know why. I really don't like these. All the curves in the wrong places for my hand. The worst spydies I have ever handled...

(I know that many of you will disagree! :-))

7. Ladybug

Nice little knife. I use is for opening letters and so on. Plainegde would be nice!

8. Calypso Jr. (Micarta, PlainEdge)

This one is a masterpiece. I took the clip off and now it's really great tool own, use, carry, look, and whatever... . I use this one rather often. Maybe a little too light for really hard jobs?

9. Standard (G10, PlainEdge)

The best one I have. This is my alltime favorit spydie. I use this one very often and enjoy every time it's in my hand. Why they don't make these anymore???

Just my thoughts...

Welcome to the forum, RK. Sure hope you can make time to spend some here.

You have a more extensive group of Spydies than most 1st time posters. It is obvious that you have given quite a lot of thought to your knives, and how well they serve you.

As you indicated, people and hands are different. Sometimes they are the same in one area, and not in another. For instance, I don't believe I've ever taken to a knife as quickly as I did to my Native FRN. It went into my left/weak pocket the day it arrived, and spends more time there than any other knife. I have the Calypso Jr Ltwt, so it is different in weight, and probably feel, but it too feels very good to me. My concerns about it's strength appear to be greater than yours. I have no doubt mine is the sharpest knife I have. From all I've heard of VG-10, it won't need too much sharpening, given the light use to which I will put it.

I am anxious to try the Dragonfly. It looks like a very good knife to me. For some reason, the Endura/Delica/Standard/Police etc basic shape leaves me pretty cold. I know I'm missing out on a lot of good knives, but a strong aesthetic sense shouldn't be ignored, IMO.

Running close behind the Native for favorite, is my Wegner. I've carried it a bit, and will carry it more. There is something about the knife that seems to have more personality than almost any of my knives. I haven't used it much, but I just "know" from handling it, how versatile it is, and how good it would be in a self-defense role. I'm even getting to the point of thinking it is pretty good looking, which is substantially different than my initial impression of it.

Enuff. Again, hope you're a regular visitor to the forum. At least keep us informed as you buy additional Spydercos, please, as well as your thoughts on them.
