If so, how and what broke.

I never have. Then again I don't confuse a knife with a (1) hammer, (2) screw driver, (3) nail puller, etc.

My boss broke his orange Rescue 79mm and replaced it with an orange Rescue Jr. He broke it at the hole, my guess is he was prying with it but he claims it went thru some sort of auger at the farm. He cannibalized the clip and barrel screw off it for use on his "new" Rescue and now the stubby little critter lives in his tractor toolbox. It has just enough of a cutting edge left to be useful for some limited cutting and scraping.

the lock on my frn cricket is broken, but that wasnt my doing. i have never pried w/ my knives or abused them in any way. thats what a leatherman is for!

Not a spydie for me. Lots of those clone SAKs (from the old days), though.

Never broken a knife of any brand. I'd be surprised if I ever did. The closest I've come was when I broke the tip of an Opinel. Couple minutes later, it was reground to a nice point with just a corse hone.

If anyone has a broken Spyderco, can we see pics?

nope -- i've never broken one. i generally "try" to use my spydies "just" as knives rather than improvisational wonder-tools... but i admit to putting them through some harsh abuse every once and a while.

and still -- no casualties! none on the spydie side of the battlefield, that is... :D

I have never broken any of my spydies, but my dad let one of his employees borrow his knife. When the guy returned with 1/3" missing from the tip missing my dad was a little bit more then mad.

I have broken many knives in my day... But never a Spyderco.

I've seen a FRN Delica get run over by my buddies F-250 Turbo Diesel... The FRN was pretty beat up.. but it lived. :)

Never broke one, but a person borrowed my delica without asking once, and he broke a little bit of the tip off. I have no clue what he could have been doing with it. Then the river stole it from me.

Yeah.......that would be cool to see broken Spydies.

I have never broken any knife I have ever had. I guess that's because I use it as it was intended. :)

can also be broken that way.

Never broke one, not surprising as I never come even close to abusing one. A neighbor did manage to melt and burn the FRN handle on one of my Natives on their stove, made quite a mess.

I bet that smelled wonderful :eek:

I can’t seem to recall every breaking a knife. I have had a few loose a screw, and had one in which I stripped the threads on. I did bend the blade on my Old Timer trapper when I was a kid. Funny, but it didn’t snap.

I snapped a small piece of the tip off of a Rookie I had. I just reground the tip to a more blunt profile, sharpened it up, and continued using it like that. I sent it back in for service, along with a ProVenator that I had used for daily carry for years, and got them back with both blades replaced, so in essence, I had two new knives! Can't beat that for $10.
I have since misplaced the Rookie, and I miss it a lot. The ProVenator's blade was replaced with a G2 blade that I didn't like as much as the original ATS-55 blade. After noticing that there was a bit of play when the blade was deployed, I sent it back and was told that it was beyond repair. I'm mulling over what to get with the credit that was offered me for replacement. (a very fair deal, by the way)
I must be pretty rough on the knives, since nobody else has ever broken one and I broke both of mine. Then again, I do ask a lot of them, and have probably used them for tasks that others would not think of using them for. In my mind, having had Spyderco knives for over 15 years, and using them HARD for that time, with only these two incidences (and I admit that the Rookie was totally my fault.....the balde was not near as "beefy" as that of the ProVenator) that says a lot about how robust these knives truly are.

I sure do miss that Rookie though.

I broke the tip off my Endura cutting a flex cuff but reprofiled it without any problem.tom.
