The Best and the Worst.

Post by pjrocco »

I know this thread has been done in the past but I'm to lazy to dig it up. :)

Name the best and the worst dealers or eBay users that you have delt with.
(Is delt a word? :D )

The bad:

I'd like to say how bad Santos Cutlery is on Ebay. Paid for a Meadowlark, 30 days and many e-mails later he finally refunds my money. Then I get an e-mail from eBay today saying he has a dispute against me.. He is actually trying to make me pay for his ebay fees.. People....

The good:

Sawyers Cutlery out of MA. They are actually my dealer.....Great friendly people, good selection, and prompt shipping. Under ebay as razorsharpknife

Well, if we're talking strictly eBay will have to go along with your choice for best, Sawyers/razorsharpknife is always a pleasure to deal with. Been darn lucky, hvve not had any REALLY bad experiences, just a couple minor annoyances. Bought a Spydercard from a seller named spy008, shipping was $10, which would have been ok by me, as it was specified that way in the listing, but he turns around puts in in a small manilla envelope and mails it first class for $.97 - from Hawaii! He just sold an Evo set a couple weeks back, hope for his buyer's sake he packed it better.
Off eBay, its NGK all the way for me. In my book they're the best dealer out there.

Never had a bad knife deal yet.

I use Sawyers a lot and yes, they are good.

Now, non knife related deals, I'll get into that another time, another thread.

This is kind of Ebay stuff that gets me riled. I just bought a SAK awhile back that specified Priority Mail in the auction and charged around five bucks .. Fine .. Ten days later the SAK shows up in a bubble envelope, box partially crushed, FIRST CLASS mail. After several emails, the seller finally refunded the difference on shipping, but ... darn ... it shouldn't have to be like that...

Green Bay Cutlery!! The Worst, Took 30 Days To Get Knife Priority Mail And Then The Envelope Was Open, Thank Goodness The Knife Had Not Fallen Out. The Priority Mail Only Took 3 Days Mr Greenbay Had Not Shipped For Almost A Month. No Email Responses, I Thought He Had Died!

Razorsharp Is The Best!

No "bad" ebay experiences for me, like The Deacon said mild annoyances is all. I like New Graham for an online dealer, never any problems. I also like the sale forums on BF and USN, nice to buy a knife from a fan.

One of "the problems" for "us" is that we tend, at least in the beginning, to expect the same kind of service from eBay seller's running "online garage sales" that we get from fellow knifeknuts. They, on the other hand, feel they're behaving perfectly well as long as they meet eBay's minimum criteria for service. Have one now, has been over a week since the auction ended, payment was sent within 2 minutes after it ended, and not a word from them yet. Not really worried, at least not yet, but do have to keep reminding myself that it's not a deal with another collector.

New Graham is pretty much the only knife dealer I use. I could try out others, but at New Graham the prices are good, the service is good, and the shipping is inexpensive and fast, so why try out others?

I don't think I've ever ordered something from New Graham that wasn't shipped out the same day. I do have a habit of doing my online shopping at 3 in the morning, but I know they must get a lot of orders and it'd be easy for them to just ship it out within 48 hours like a lot of online merchants.

I haven't had any bad Ebay buys yet. I think I've been lucky.

Well,

I noticed some people having negative experiences with Santos Cutlery on Ebay. I'll ad my own and withold judgement.

I ordered a stainless Endura and a Gerber Chameleon, paid instantly, and never received the goods. After several emails enquiring about this, I finally got a response of sorts stating that the goods had been sent. So I wrote it off as theft somewhere along the way by some postal worker.
But the service wasn't all that great, and what really bugs me is that the guy did not even leave positeve feedback on me even though I paid him the moment I bought the goods.

On the other hand, I ordered a (second) stainless Endura and some other stuff from NGK (based on the good things heard about them on this forum) and that has been a pleasant experience throughout. Enquiries get answered on time, and with the information needed, etc. Now, if the mailman would just hurry the h*ll up...

Could you guys tell me how exactly this worked out with Santos?

I mean, did you order & pay for the knife and never received it because it was a) never sent in the first place for whatever reason, or b) seller sent it but it did not arrive, or c) seller said he sent it but could not provide proof?

I am just curious because I just got an email that said the knives had been sent, and I can't prove he did not. So how/why did you guys get your money back? I am trying to get some sort of refund from EBay buyer protection but I'm not expecting to have any luck there...

Sorry for the threadjack, by the way.

With best regards,

In my case...He never sent the item and could not prove to me that he sent it. After about 7 e-mails and over 30 days later he finally gave me a refend.

But now he has a despute against me since he wants me to pay for his ebay fees. He told Ebay that I returned the item for a refund... Although he never shipped it out. So not I have to fight ebay to prove it...Ridiculous.

Good luck in getting your item. I hope everything works out.

Now I have bought from Santos Cutlery a few times (maybe 5 times) with no problems. I must be lucky...

Razorsharp, Flame-N-Knives, Knivesflacowboy, ssknives, knifestore, and cashtec have all been dealt with multiple times and have not had a problem and have provided good service.

You can tell who a good dealer usally is... lots of feedback and not a "lot" of negatives. If you see more than 2-3 negatives in the last month, even with a high volume of sales, you are rolling the dice.

I have been ripped off twice in the last 3 years. Both took my money and no knife. One used a check out service that was not helpful in getting my money back, the other I fell for their sob story and got ripped off (waited too long). I found the problem with both was they did not inventory knives, they sold from a wholesale company that they dealt with, in both cases they were discontinued knives and if they were out of stock, where were you getting more? The one I forgot the name, the other changed names about 1000 times, the last time I think it was "Ultra-Knives" This guy collected negatives faster than anyone I have ever seen!

As for actual dealers off E-Bay...

New Graham is great, and Knifecenter is an old stand by.

After a month and several emails he answered me if I wanted a replacement (he didn't confirm me the precedent shipping). Because of his bad feedbacks (now all private) I asked for a full refund that he gave me without problems.
He said to ebay that we accorded to cancel the transaction, in that way he had a refund for the insertion fees.

After 4 months no knife or contact from customs.
This seller is not reliable, he had too much bad feedbacks to think that the fault was attributable only to the postal service (goods often shipped in late or not received and bad communication).

Sorry for my English, but after playing tennis for two hours I'm very tired. :o

Havn't had a problem on E-bay, not really. I thought I was buying a Calypso Sr. (the big one), but the guy had some "revised specs" at the very bottom of the listing. It pays to read every word. When I emailed him, I said I thought I was bidding on a full-size Calypso, but didn't ask to cancel the transaction. He emailed back and asked if I'd like credit to my E-bay account or a check? Really cool since it -was- my fault for not reading every word. I chose the credit.
Botac, however, doesn't seem to update thier website. Even if you call them and ask about a knife, you may be talking to someone who has never been out of the front office. I might order something like a backpack from them, but never a :spyder: .
Flames and Knives are great as is NG, World of Knives, and, I guess, Self Defense knives ((ordered and recieved my Endura Wave)
As always, YMMV :)

bad seller on Ebay

 Do not bid on anything by krenovsky/Greenbay cutlery. Waiting 30 days for a knife. Countless e-mails sent. I have not received a valid tracking number yet from this flake, nor even the date he shipped! He won't respond to emails and won't answer direct questions. I'm only out $60 but it is a pisser. Will file claims with ebay & paypal tomorrow .I don't believe he ever shipped and is just using delaying tactics to try and get me to give up. There are really good ebay folks. razorsharpknife/Sawyer's Cutlery is very good. connalexa/d.rhodes & rbagwell/Lonely Gator Trading have been very good, all on multiple wins. :) Almost all are very good, then there is krenovsky. It is so mush easier to order from Grand Prarie, K.Plus,NGK,John Jensen, Island Security. These guys are pros and you don't have to worry. Might be addicted to ebay too.......nah is ok! :)

The best I've dealt with:

- New Graham Knives (good prices and great service)
- A.G. Russell (not the best prices, but great service)
- KnifeCenter (good prices, great selection in stock)

The worst

- Knife Outlet (lied to me about availability of a knife I ordered then called me a liar when I told them other dealers had it in stock).
