Censorship?

#1

Post by spyderknut »

Why have several recent "Forum knife" threads been deleted recently?

I understand we are in Sal's living room here. I understand that previous forum knives have turned out to be unprofitable and that Spyderco should be reluctant to proceed with another Forum project. Much of the discussion, however was of how to build a Forum knife with little risk to Spyderco. There have been at least 4 recent threads on the subject in the past weed and all have been deleted.

Are we being censored or are those who initiate these discussions screwing with us?

Nope, it was Vincent who decided to delete them. There is a thread on this matter in the Spyder forum, but it's possible it has been deleted too.
I'm beginning to understand why Vincent is getting so much, er... *youknowwhat*.

It sure is irritating to put thought and effort into a topic and have someone just erase it.

Spyderknut,
I deleted one thread regarding the disappearance of the original threads about a Forum knife. It was deleted due to the non-productive path that the thread had taken as well as profanity.

The original threads were not deleted by us, nor would they be. We welcome the open discussion so long as it is done in a manner that is consistent with our goals for this forum.

We don't believe in censorship, but we can't allow name-calling and offensive behavior.

I hope I was able to clear this up for you. Feel free to discuss a Forum knife. I can't promise anything in terms of it becoming a reality, but we certainly will not stop you from discussing it.

Have a great weekend!

Kristi

I wouldn't call 24 hours exactly long, you know. I, for instance, didn't have internet acces, or I would've voted.

It's not the size that matters, it's how you use it.

I wouldn't mind having a Jester as forum knife.

I took part in each of these threads and many others did too.

We all have started threads that go no where. They just drift off to distant pages. That's ok.

When you delete your thread you are not only negating your own ideas but also those of others. It is inconsiderate. Not everyone will agree with you. Not everyone will participate right away. Some of us like to let ideas stew for a while.

IMO deleting a thread is a waste of the time and effort of those that participated in that thread. In general it will diminish participation and in particular the disappearance of forum knife threads will diminish interest.

Anyway, I started a new forum knife thread.

I don't engage in flame wars.

I won't delete, ignore or discount the ideas of others.

I don't expect Sal, Spyderco or fellow forumites to make a decision in less than a weeks time.

Every time someone disagrees with Vincent he acts like a child in the playground and "takes his marbles and goes home" by deleting the thread he started. He insults the people who have taken the time to thoughtfully respond by deleting them, and then, after he removes the evidence, he insults members personally in other posts.

He continues to insult this Forum and it's members with impunity. How many contributing members have been called "dumb" "stupid" "crybaby" or worse? How many has he tried to verbally "bully" How long do we have to put up with this?

4 s ter, you seem to know much more about the wants and needs of the people who want a forum knife.

so I put it in your hands.

so go do a better job.

Btw

I dont care if not 1 person on this forum respects me
I dont care if not 1 person on this forum likes me
I dont care if not 1 person on this forum agrees with me
I dont care if not 1 person on this forum disagrees with me.

I am the same exact person i was in febuary. The only thing that has changed is that I dont go off on people any more.

Like I said I could care less if I get any approval from anybody. Im not here for that.

I also get a ton of gratification on how you davec and Vass,

For some reason I keep seeing this show up in this thread:

This message is hidden because Vincent is on your ignore list.

It only shows how far you can push people that they don't even want to argue with you anymore. I doubt there are many people on 4 s ter's ignore list...
