Why is it that I hardly ever read something about the ATR? When I started collecting Spyders I wanted the ATR very badly but I foud it too expensive(the addiction hadn't kicked kicked that much) I ended up buying the knife after all(PE/SS) I'm now waiting for my Ti/SE since I regret I didn't save up and bought the Ti/SE right away. I just love the looks of the knife(blade, handle, lock)
But I wonder; is there anyone who really uses the ATR or is this knife mainly bought for collection?

I have the SS/PE version.. and I like it.. but it's not in my EDC rotation, just a collecting piece.

For some reason it just does not tickle my fancy.

I really like the size of the ATR. I have 3 of them all plain edge.
2 are ti and one is a stainless version that I carry on occasion.

I have a user ATR and one collected for when the user is no more ATR. It's a great knife with a really strong, secure lock in a really strong, secure handle and a blade that cuts extremely well. The blade stays sharp for a really long time and looks really cool. The Cobra Hood provides an excellent thumb ramp for controlled cutting and some MBC styles. The point pierces well, but that diminishes rapidly as the knife dulls.

On a side note, there's been a lot of talk about problems with S30V. The only problem I've noticed is over-representation. If you keep the back-bevel to 30 degrees or sharpen straight to the edge at around 30 degrees with no back-bevel, the steel does seem a little tougher than most stainless steels of the same class (VG-10, ATS-34, AUS-118) with better edge retention when cutting soft materials. If you go thinner than that, you'll still benefit from the edge retention, but you'll be dumbfounded and incredulous when you hear people say the steel is tough.

That's about all I have to say about that.

id buy one but id like a Ti version.

I Dont Want To Scratch It, I Think It Is One Of The Best Kept Secrets In The Entire Knife World. For The Price Nothing Else Compares. Worker

If you got it carry it, that is what it was made for. After all it is a production knife not a handmade custom. I carry custom knives much of the time and use them, lucky with customs the makers will refurb them for free when needed.

Oh, how we need a conventional style pocket clip for this model! I would carry mine if it weren't for that goofy clip.

ATR? Innovative design, great value. Compare to Sebenza.

I bought one of the first Ti ATRs. My only snivel is that the compression lock on mine has a bit of wiggle. And it is great in the hand, either way. Cuts like a champ.

Not very often but every now and then I get a knife that for what ever reason; I get bored with. 2 years ago I wanted a Titanium ATR worse than I wanted my next breath of air. I got a PE version in a trade with a fellow knife dealer/collector. I was really enthused about it for quite a while and then all of a sudden the knife had no appeal to me any more at all. I am trying to trade it now as we speak on one of the more popular Forums.

While going over my collection here a while back I just looked at my Ti ATR Set ( PE & SE). I literally got bored owning them. I have only had that happen to 3 other Spydercos that I have had. There is nothing wrong with the knife at all. It is quality through and through. But for some reason the excitement wore off. Although I had the same thing happen with my Karambit and then 2 months later I got another one. Doctor Lecter is your couch ready? :D

I'd love a Ti version, maybe one day soon... looking for a CF Cricket first :D

What JD said, I got bored with the ATR but that was while I was handling it at a gun show for around 10 minutes! The clip is a bit silly and cheapens the whole thing. It looked like one of those five dollar asian knives-in-a-basket.

I on the one I put my Rave mod (Wave) on the only thing I didn't like about the ATR was how tight the pocket clip gripped my pants. I mean that thing had to be the tightest clip I've ever used. I thought some of my Protech Autos were bad until I saw that one.

Far too strong for my taste. I could pull my pants up with one of those on each pocket. For that matter some of my suspenders have less grip.

Once I bent the clip out in my vice to ease that grip it was great though.

It sure did work smooth with my Rave mod on it. One of the best I've tried.

I would think in the winter months that an all stainless or all titanium knife would get pretty cold on your leg if you had it on you for extended periods of time outdoors in fridgid weather. I think some removable G10 scales would be a nice option on it if they were nice and thin.
