Hey guys, found a link through imageshack!
Thanks for the help and site. I don't know what it is about these knives, I think it's the history behind them. I do love my military history. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an expert or anything. I just like mil history. :D

Hi there
nice knife, have one by the same maker but with a "hunting style" sheath. I don't want to be a wet blanket but I think that this knife has been heavily refinished, the blade and guard should be blued( or phosphate finished) and the grip painted. The finish on the grip is fragile and falls off easily. Have a close look at the crossguard are there any symbols, letters etc there??
Anyhow it is a 3rd Pattern Knife with a commando style sheath, nice that the tabs and elastic retainer are intact.
There is a guy here in new Zealand who makes the best FS replicas, if you are interested I will post his URL

To me they are in better than " Ok " condition. :D
I know that the blade had a tendency to break off in the occasional neck, but who cares? It's the historic value that I like. I wil not be able to handle the knife 1st hand for a while. If it has been reconditioned, I will be able to tell. I'll have to wait until I get home for leave. Thanks for ALL the comments and pics my friends, Ray.

Silvercall, nice group, a 2nd pattern and a 3rd pattern. Do you know where thay came from or who made them??
Ray, the breaking issue is much over-quoted. Turns out that most of the problem blades were made in the US, it was a heat treatment issue. Enjoy the knife whatever it turns out to be. Stay safe.

the 2nd pattern was owned by a man who was part of the North Nova Scotia Highlanders (based out of Truro N.S. i think) I got it off his son. the 3rd pattern i got off a man who got it in an estate sale in the UK. other than the "3" on the 3rd pattern there doesn't seem to be anyother markings on either blade (no visible arrow or letters). anyways stay safe Ray so you can handle your cool new knife :D

Hi Phil,
yeah i dont think the sheath is standard also. It came with the 2nd pattern knife and i was told the sheath is actually from a german knife  dont know if this is true but it fits my knife well. also, i checked the guard of the 3rd pattern like you said, and there was "England" very faint. I think this means this knife was probably not used by UK troops but was probably exported (not sure though) anyways, like Ray i like the story behind these knives, i wonder what they've seen and where they've been and ... well im sure you get my drift...
