First impressions, Nav II has excellent fit and finish, much better than any of the Kopas I've handled, but I was more than a little disappointed to find that it is not a full flat grind. just an extremely high sabre grind.

Evrina Kopa, same issues as the previous ones, some rough edges on the clip and very sharp inner edges on the liners. Was hoping by now these would have been resolved. Evrina looks like slightly-off-white plastic to me, no grain, no variations in color, nothing to remotely suggest ivory. Disappointing, especially considering the premium price.

Too bad on all counts there my friend. I thought the Nav2 to be full flat ground...Wonder why they didn't just commit to a full flat, they were almost *there* with it? :D Past model looks perhaps? :confused:

Nice pictures as always! Thanks for taking the time to snap a few of new models right when you get them. I'm sure I can speak for all of us when I say that we really appreciate it.

What's the Evrina feel like? I've always been curious about that. Does it just feel like plastic or does it have a particular texture?

It looks really white in the pics, like it messes with light a bit. Maybe that's just because it's white. It reminds me of really high quality glow-in-the-dark material when bright lights are on.

Looks like plastic, feels like plastic. Just a solid color, perhaps a hair translucent, but not much. No grain, no pores, nothing to suggest ivory except the color. Imagine scales made from an ivory colored plastic light switch plate and you'd be close to the look of ervina.

Couple more shots of the Nav II, clip side, and with older Navigators. You can see the choil has been improved, handle has more clearly defined finger rests, transition between the spine and the thumb ramp of the blade is nicely rounded.

When I saw the CF Navigator I had just like an adrenaline rush and wanted to buy one!

Thanks for the pics Paul. I have been looking forward to the Evrina Kopa but now I don't know. I think I read somewhere that evrina ages nicely though.

I'm too disappointed to hear that Evrina has nothing special, was really looking forward to this one... at least they got rid of the rivets.

Thanks for the pics and the info. I realize it's a fine point, but don't you think the height of the sabre grind will allow the blade to basically function as a full flat grind would? I imagine the transition at the top gives the blade more "visual interest". Seems I remember a post by Sal wherein he mentioned that full flat grinds, while prized by knife-knuts and people who know about cutting performance, just look "boring" to most people. So we get the performance of a flat grind, and maybe Spyderco sells a few more? On the other hand, it looks like it might just be there to allow a nice platform for the collector # :cool:

The handle of the Nav II looks like it has great ergonomics. Since I am a big fan of finger choils I will probably like this knife. Will this model be a regular part of the Spyderco catalog or will it be a part of some sprint run?

Too bad about the Evrina, but perhaps is will become more pleasing after some modding? IIRC it can be scrimshawed. Perhaps the main reason they got rid of the rivets?

I still the think the Nav II is first 'ugly' SS model to date. I alway found the SS models to have some visually pleasing aspects, but this one, all business. It handles well though, I did handle a proto. I'm getting more shallow these days, I need a little eye-candy in my SS models.

Since it has its own new SKU (#93) I think it will be around for some time...

Yeah , I know. I had to restraint myself to not throw away like 1000,00 this summer... Actually... It didn’t work like what I expected... :rolleyes:

Still, I've got some really cool knives and when the FedEx man will come near my house next week, I will probably reap the package out of is hand and strip it like a beast... Freestyle, and maybe even without knives!

I really got big expectations for the Navigator 2!

As for the Evrina Kopa... It will just be perfect! The only thing I'm not really sure is how white mine will be.

Sorry you were disappointed in the Evrina. The Evrina is perfect for scrim. We made some earlier models and Linda Karst scmimmed them for us. Quite beautiful. We were thinking that many of them will ultimately end up with a cool scrimshaw making them even more unique.

Thanx for the comments on the sharp edges, I'll look into that.

The Nav is a limited production piece, but not a sprint. The capacity of the maker is limited, so he can only make about 100 a month.

Seeing the Nav II beside the original Nav makes me actually like the orginal better. I think it just looks better. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's the thumb ramp.
