New Webdesign

#1

Post by Mr Blonde »

It must be the season for new spyder websites! First, Ken and now me...again! After moving my site from geocities, a good friend put me onto the Mambo freeware webdesign package. Add to that a helpful photoshop trick from Ted, and some personal insights in how to better use my lightbox, and the urge was irresistable to make something new.

All text-content is the same as before, but the photos are all redone which I'm quite pleased with. However, in Holland we would say 'it's old wine in new bags'! From the outside, only the design and photos are new (click on the smalle photos in the articles), the rest has remained the same.

However, with the Mambo CMS system it is oh so much easier to manage everything. I had to learn in terms of content rather than pages, which wasn't easy at first though.

the direct link is: http://mrblonde50.genix.nl/content/index.php

And I put into place redirect pages in the previous addresses, so bookmark changes are not needed.

Enjoy,

Wouter

Good day, all.

Very nicely done, my friend! Though not necessary, my bookmark to your site has been updated. :D I very much look forward to seeing its continued development and growth.

My compliments Wouter. Still one of the premier Spyderco sites I use as often as needed.

Thanks guys. The whole Mambo, CMS and PHP thing required a new way of thinking about webdesign for me. You have to start by defining categories, sections and such before you can actually begin on the look of the site. Hard to explain, especially for this math-challenged person. With this system you are not 'creating pages' but 'content', which can then be put anywhere and in any shape you like.

Ted, you must be better at this than me. If you check into the Mambo CMS software, I'll only be able to give you 'tips' rather than a thorough walkthrough. Come to think of it, I hardly remember how I got to get it all together. :D

Very cool site. Great work. I like the Wedding Cake Knife
How did you get the writing on the blade?

I would like to research the possibility of having our shooting club logo put on ~20 Endura's.

Very nice Wouter,

Like the new pics. Awesome detail when I can see the grain of the Micarta.

Sweet website Mr. Blonde.
Yours is still one of the main sites I visit when researching new spydies. :)
