Spyderco "Byrd" crossbill

I don't know if I'm the only one who went out and bought a "byrd".
But, let me tell you, though skeptical at first by the "Made in China"
production, I've been assuaged by it's shaving sharpness!
I took a patch of hair off my arm with the PE part of the CE, and
WOW! No effort involved other than moving the blade from
point A to point B!
And the thing about this byrd is it's the :spyder: of my dreams, essentially
a CE Harpy - now that's a rare byrd!
I wouldn't be too put off by that "comet" or "byrd's head" opening hole
either - point is, it work's!
And if you don't want to use your more expensive :spyder: s, I'd recommend
gettin' a byrd - you won't be dissappointed!
What say the augurers?

Hello AET,
if you want you can check my review from Friday, the 5th.
I got the same genuine knife as you, except mine is PE.
Performs well, too.

How's the size on it Allen? Hard to tell from the catalog pictures, nothing really to compare it with. For some reason I've been picturing it as something more the size of an Spyderhawk or Endura that a Harpy. I have a Harrier (the first Byrd, with the "persian" style blade and micarta scales) and a Cara Cara. The Harrier is a bit rough around the edges, but still a knife I would not be totally ashamed to hand somebody, the Cara Cara is darn close to an Endura when it comes to fit and finish. Have not really used either enough to find out how well they stand up in use compared to the Seki made knives, but, like your Crossbill, they arrived :spyder: sharp.

Thanks 224477, that did help quite a bit! Seems to be about midway between the Delica and Endura. Don't know how I missed your review the first time around, glad I finally found it, very informative.

I just received a Crossbill PE and Pelican PE from NGK. Both are far better than I expected; fit and finish compare with mainline :spyder: s, and exceed what other companies sell for 3 to 4 times the price I paid. The edge is shaving sharp, lock-up solid, and "balance" excellent.
These won't knock my regular spydies off their pedestals, but they'll find a way into the EDC rotation over lots of others.
