Spyderco HQ - nice scenery...

#1

Post by Ted »

Just did a 3D plot of the location of the Spyderco Head Quarters...humm...must be a nice scenery with 6000+ and 7000+ ft mountains.
I've been told that deer and elk can be seen from the HQ ... oh...the envy...I just look at highways and concrete :(

I wonder if anyone that works there or near it would be kind enough to post a picture of the building?.......I would love to see some general pics of the building and the stuff around it......heck pretty much anything. :)

Guys, I lived out there for 2 years and I'll tell you, it's something else. Coming from the east coast I wasn't use to seeing what real mountains are like. My front window faced the mountains and I never got tired of going home to watch the sun set over them. It was like a 2 yr vacation with time out for work Mon - Fri. Everyday I said I should get myself a camera and all I came away with are memories.

Hwy 93 is called the Foothills Hwy and runs between Boulder and Golden. I was camping at Estes in the Rocky Mountain Park and drove down to Spyderco in 2000. A very nice drive. At that time they were a bit off the highway in an unpresupposing 2 story brick industrial bldg surrounded by landscaping trees. No big Spyder on a pole spinning like the avatars. In fact I wasn't sure I was at the right place until I asked an employee on lunchbreak.
SFO was down the hill a bit and fronted on the highway in a very rustic looking wooden structure. They have since moved. The main bldg may have relocated also.
There definitely should be snow on those mountains this time of year though.

I'll be visiting Spyderco this september. Rest assured, extra memory sticks will be purchased to make plenty of snaps, as Ken would say. Visit http://www.scarysharp.com and search the archives. Rorsach made some pics of his visit to Golden!

Snow on the Hills

#8

Post by TazKristi »

Hello all, this is Kristi from the Spyderco Sales Dept. We are still in the 2 story red brick building. We are fortunate enough to see quite a bit of wildlife here (deer, foxes, rabbits and such) and there is still snow on the hills. In fact it just snowed last night and has been lightly snowing off and on all day.

I'll see if I can post some pictures of the building and the surrounding area early next week.

Take care all!

You don't think it's like working in the candy store do you?

You know, you don't want to see them when you get home.

Do they hunt from the factory grounds? " Look Dad, i designed a new knife". "Wait Eric, i just spotted a deer 200 feet away, open the window so we can try if it's good for skinning". klik klak BOOOOM, "nice shot Dad", thank you Eric". "take the knife, we are eating deer tonight", "OH NO , but i like rabbit more" :(

Down in the factory: HONK "warning to all personel, Mr Glesser is hunting from his bedroom, please do not leave the factory before the "all clear" signal is sounded, thank you!" click

Thank you all for your kind welcome. Don't worry, I've learned, one can never tire of seeing Spydies! :D In fact, that's all I'm likely to see today. It's snowing again, can't even see the hill tops from my window.

Have a great weekend all!

I would also like to see Kristi participate more on the forum. I know her as a wonderful, sweet and considerate human being; all this from personal experience, I might add.

Welcome to the forums, Dear Lady.
