What Does Your Knife Get Used For?

#1

Post by JDEE »

I know this question has been asked before but I have broken it down into 5 catergories - what I want to know is what is the main task your Spyderco is used for? out of the 5 catergories listed below:

1. Work Related - pretty much self explanatory.
2. Leisure Related - for example hunting, fishing, craft, gardening etc
3. Food Preparation - again self explanatory.
4. Home Related - work around the home not covered by 1 to 3.
5. Other - please list.

Have to admit that since I quit smoking, the amount of time I spend preparing food (and consuming it) seems to have increased substantially. Hmm, wonder how a :spyder: hobo set would sell. :D

Too limited

Actually JDEE there were about 3 of the boxes I wanted to check. Work is where I use my knife the most but I use it about everywhere I go. I can't even imagine any day without the use of one of my blades. I honestly feel like I don't have all of my clothes on if I don't have a blade on me. :spyder:

should have set it up so we could do multiple choices...
shares usage between work, food and entertainment.

bought myself a superknife over a week ago, works better than an olfa for material at work... and at $0.10 a blade I don't have to even sharpen these buggers(buy the shop dispensers, 100 blades for $11 after taxes)... should average about $2-$2.50 a month for a work knife. Now I'm not scratching & chipping good knives at work cutting against a metal guide.

Actually I am being a bit selfish with this poll in that I am looking at writing an article and want an indication of use as outlined in the poll. I thought about a multiple choice and expanding it but thought for the purpose of the article that the limited choice was the better way to go.

JDEE, you didn't include "therapy". Sharpening my :spyder: 's is one of the things that makes me feeeel better :D . Also polishing feed ramps and other stuff, and occasional leather work. I also use my :spyder: 's for a lot more than just work, and feel really strange without at least one on me; it's like all of the sudden there are things everywhere that need cutting.

I guess if I really had to pick only one it would be work. Not by much though. Besides, I didn’t see “therapeutic knifesterbation” on the list. :D

I would say mainly work, but however leisure is also amoung the reasons. Personally i think you need a collecting option as well, because plenty of people dont use their spyderco's, just enjoy collecting them.

The poll looks at "tasks" therefore "therapy" and “therapeutic knifesterbation” can only be considered a pleasure but then again using a Spyderco is a pleasure is it not? Ditto "collecting".

As a matter of fact, I use my knives for both leisure and home so, becouse I can't vote in two positions it could be voted as Other.

All of the above

Actually, it's more like all of the above.

Vampyrewolf called it, it should have been multiple choice. However,
that would demean the poll. So I chose leisure, as my SS SE Cricket
see's little real hard use.
