Opening hole in Salt I and Pac Salt?

#1

Post by DEON »

I see in the Catalog specs that the opening hole in the Salt I blade is 14mm (I have one and like it a lot) but on the Pac Salt it's 12mm (on order but now the 12mm hole puts me off somewhat). Is that correct. If so, why on earth did Spyderco put a smaller opening hole on the bigger knife? I like the 14mm holes and find the opening much better than with 12mm holes.

Hi DEON, the "bad news" is that the :spyder: catalog is in need of some SERIOUS proof-reading. The "good news" is that all three versions of the Salt - Pacific Salt, Atlantic Salt, and Salt I, have the 14mm thumb hole.

Thanks Paul for the confirmation (it's good news for me) that is what I thought.

Based on your original post, I figured you'd be happy to hear that, Deon. :D But I really should have qualified my "good news" statement. I love them myself, but there are those who find 14mm opening holes too large for their tastes.

Just took a look and the printed catalogs (dealer and consumer) both state that opening holes for the Salt I, Pacific Salt and Atlantic Salt are 14mm. Thought to double check so I pulled all three models off the shelf and measured. They are without doubt all three 14mm in diameter.

The online catalog is in fact incorrect. Thanks for the heads up we're changing it today.
