The first model didn't work out as hoped. Quality didn't match requirements.

The 2nd & third model are considerably better. We'll be testing them shortly through our site.

Tha larger model is the "CaraCara" and the smaller model is the "Meadowlark".

You will hear more about them in a couple of weeks.

The first model, "Harrier" was not "bad", just not what we planned in terms of action. The strength and ergos are there, it's just harder to open than we wanted.

The pieces in the market-place were "spine-wacked" and the lock held "heavy duty". Green micarta scales with stainless bolsters.

The CaraCara & Meadowlark are all stainless models.

A business is a fragile thing no matter what the size. If this New low cost line is what it takes to keep Spyderco competitive and pumping out great new Spydies waaaaaaaay into the future I'm all for it. :D

Lots of companies offer lower cost alternatives and it doesnt damage thier "premier" lines image. You don't always need top notch depending on the job. Plus it brings in people who might of otherwise bought a competing low cost brand or knock off. I would much rather see Spyderco get the sale so they can keep making Spydies. I think this is a great Idea and could really strengthen Spyderco if pulled off right.

I wish Sal and Spyderco the best of luck with this :D

Oh and Sal is there going to be a cool Byrd logo to rival the ultra cool Bug?
