Sorry Tx lovers, but being stationed here really sucks. You have to drive at least 30 mins to find anything decent to do.I needed to rant and I am sorry that you guys had to hear this. I've traveled all over this country and this might possibly be the worst state I've ever been in. I raelly need to go smoke right now, calm down a little. I do apologize for my state.

Thanks for the great endorsement of Texas. We love you too.

of putting in for a re-assignment to Savannah, GA. I hope it works. We have Family in FL and SC. Spent 4 yrs there.
Bought my first good knife there, and met my wife. Dialex, I would switch with you if I could. We've been here since Jan 04.

Not even having been to Romania nor spending 24 contiguous hours sober the one time I was in Texas, I'd still choose Tejas over most everywhere outside of the USA. Socialism tends to ravage people and the places they inhabit. Nicolai Ceausescu and his pals left a mess that will take decades to clean up (both literal pollution and figurative corruption).

Sure, the place has a vibrant history (anyone remember Radhu and Vlad Tepes: The Ottoman Empire's answer to "The Bobsey Twins"?); sure, it's on the cross-roads of several cultures; sure, Romania has both the Transylvanian Alps and the Carpathian mountains; but it doesn't have the USA's Constitution (document <i>or </i> boat) or the USA's means to enforce said Constitution (document). And I'm not sure that many bars in Romania sell decent Long Islands or margaritas.

Could you really live without the freedoms and hooch in the USA just to escape Tejas? You're much braver than me.

HoB, I highly agree with you that Corpus is great to visit because of the beaches/waterfront, however the frickin' humidity down here is something else. <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I've had chili in Texas and I'll admit that I wasn't impressed. Sure it was good, but it was, well, chili. Was at a restaurant, though. Maybe homemade chili is better?

Actually, I've been considering crossing the big pond, but the kids are too small for now. Maybe in a couple years.
But what really drags me down is that they say America is on war nowadays and I really wouldn't jeopardize my familly <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Although you guys seem pretty relaxed, so perhaps there's mostly the sensational the reporters are always after.
