Post by steven »

hi everybody,

I just bought myself a military, spyderedge, i love it!! I know it's a good knive for almost anything, but is it also good as self-defence? Can anyone give me some good and bad points on the knive, when used as self-defence? thanks. Keep 'em sharp!

Steve: good choice...You should see Poppa Spyder open a Military right off the SPYDER-HOLE coming straight out of his pocker...WOW!

Yes..you can use a Military...but you could use any steel for self-defense..
The Military has a flat grind ( great cutting) very good ergononics...it fits in your hand...and its light and fast..

In a close position it makes a fairly good fist load...
Its not designed for hooking with the back of the blade, against the lock, in reverse grip...
It cuts great in reverse or forward...

If you choose to think of steel as of or in terms of self defense you might want to get a drone to practice with...and check out an MBC class...

have a great day!!!

Steven, after using other models; endura, delica, and pro-venator, the Military became the favorite overnite! I have yet to find any real weaknesses. The speed of the blade and the way it solidly locks open makes it a security blanket. Since I carry several different models at the same time, I consider the Military in a reaching situation. Up close I prefer the Venator becuase of the weight even though it's half the size. I love the steel too. Stays sharp. The smooth tip may dull before the serrations.
